Summary

This 2009 Toyota Land Cruiser GXR is a standout opportunity for buyers seeking legendary reliability with remarkably low mileage for its age in the GCC market. Finished in black, one of the region’s most desirable colors for resale, it offers a sophisticated presence that holds its value exceptionally well. As a GXR trim, it strikes the ideal balance between essential off-road hardware and the comfort features necessary for daily family use. While its rivals might offer more tech, none match the Land Cruiser’s reputation for enduring extreme desert heat and maintaining a massive support network of parts and service centers across the Emirates. For the buyer looking for a durable, long-term asset that handles city traffic and weekend adventures with equal ease, this is a top-tier choice.

This Car vs Other 2009 Land Cruisers

With only 127,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has covered significantly less distance than the typical 2009 model in the GCC, which often exceeds 250,000 km. The black exterior is a high-demand choice in the local used market, ensuring faster resale and better value retention than more niche colors. This combination of low usage and desirable aesthetics makes it a rare find among J200-generation examples.

GXR vs Lower Trims

The GXR trim provides essential upgrades over the base GX, including a more refined interior with wood-grain trim and enhanced convenience features like cruise control and parking sensors. GCC buyers prefer the GXR for its inclusion of dual-zone climate control and additional speakers, which are vital for comfort during long inter-city drives in the summer months.

Land Cruiser vs Segment Rivals

The Land Cruiser leads rivals like the Nissan Patrol and Mitsubishi Pajero in terms of total ownership peace of mind, thanks to the most extensive spare parts availability in the region. Its body-on-frame construction offers superior durability for desert excursions compared to monocoque competitors. Additionally, the Land Cruiser’s air conditioning system is widely regarded as the gold standard for maintaining cabin cooling in temperatures exceeding 45°C.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.0L V6 engine is known for its mechanical simplicity and lower maintenance costs compared to the larger V8 variants. Service intervals are typically every 5,000 to 10,000 km, with authorized service centers available in every major city across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. This model famously commands the highest resale value in its segment, with a depreciation curve that is significantly flatter than European luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with a robust 4.0L V6 and a permanent four-wheel-drive system, this Land Cruiser is built for both highway cruising and serious off-roading. The low-range transfer case and high ground clearance allow it to navigate soft sand and rocky wadis that would stop most modern crossovers. It provides a stable, commanding view of the road, making it ideal for the fast-moving multi-lane highways between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat layout is perfect for large families, featuring a versatile third row and rear climate vents to ensure all passengers stay cool. The cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, with plush seating and ample legroom for second-row occupants. Practical additions like the cooled center console box are specifically suited for the GCC climate, keeping beverages cold during long desert trips.

Safety

Standard safety features on this GXR include dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) to maintain control on various surfaces. The heavy-duty chassis provides a secondary layer of passive safety, while the integrated parking sensors assist with visibility in tight urban parking environments.

The bottom line

For a GCC buyer, this low-mileage 2009 GXR represents the perfect entry point into Land Cruiser ownership, offering a bulletproof mechanical platform and excellent resale prospects.
