Toyota Hiace DX Toyota Hiace 13 seater, model:2010

Highlights

• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Nine seats with rear-wheel drive
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This Toyota Hiace DX stands as a prime example of the GCC’s most trusted commercial workhorse, offering a rare combination of passenger capacity and mechanical simplicity. While its mileage reflects its 16-year age, these vehicles are legendary in the region for their ability to reach significant milestones when properly maintained. The white exterior is the gold standard for resale in the UAE, ensuring it holds its value better than almost any rival in the segment. For a buyer looking for a dependable staff transporter or high-occupancy shuttle, this petrol-powered manual variant offers the most straightforward ownership experience available. It remains a top choice for those who prioritize uptime and ease of repair in the demanding Gulf climate.

This Car vs Other 2010 Hiaces

With 292,000 km on the odometer, this Hiace has averaged roughly 18,250 km per year, which is remarkably low compared to the GCC commercial average of 25,000–30,000 km. Most 2010 models in the market have already surpassed the 400,000 km mark, making this a mechanically sound entry point for a high-occupancy vehicle. The white paint remains the most practical and sought-after color for local business use, providing superior heat reflection and the highest possible resale appeal.

DX vs Lower Trims

The DX trim serves as the essential standard for commercial reliability, focusing on durability and ease of maintenance. Unlike lower-tier panel van configurations, this bus variant is equipped with a full interior headliner and side panels to manage cabin temperatures more effectively in the summer heat. It also provides the necessary rear seating infrastructure and ventilation points that are often absent in base-model cargo conversions.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

The Hiace consistently leads rivals like the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai H1 in terms of residual value and parts availability across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Its 2.7L petrol engine is specifically favored by local fleets for its ability to handle long highway stints between emirates without the complexity of modern turbo-diesel systems. While competitors may offer more modern cabin tech, the Toyota’s cooling performance and suspension durability on uneven surfaces remain the segment benchmarks.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for this 2.7L engine typically ranges between 12.3 and 13.0 L/100km, which is efficient for a high-occupancy bus in stop-start city traffic. Service intervals are recommended every 5,000 to 10,000 km, and with the massive Al-Futtaim and wider GCC network, parts are available in almost every major city. The Hiace maintains one of the lowest annual depreciation rates in the region, often retaining significant value even after two decades of service.

Performance & Capability

The 149 hp engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, providing the driver with full control over power delivery, which is essential when the bus is at its full 9+ passenger capacity. The rear-wheel-drive layout ensures stable handling and traction, even when navigating sand-dusted roads or gravel-heavy worksites. With a top speed of approximately 160 km/h, it is more than capable of maintaining steady highway speeds for cross-border trips or inter-city shuttles.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for maximum occupancy, the cabin features a 9+ seat configuration with durable upholstery intended for heavy daily use. The air conditioning system is specifically engineered for the 45°C+ GCC summers, ensuring that cooling reaches the rear-most passengers effectively. Large windows provide excellent visibility for sightseeing or transport, while the simple dashboard layout ensures that all controls are easily accessible for the driver.

Safety

Safety is managed through a robust chassis design and essential systems including Anti-lock Braking (ABS) and front airbags. The rear-wheel-drive configuration and balanced weight distribution provide predictable stability on high-speed UAE highways. For transport operators, the mechanical simplicity of the Hiace means that safety-critical components like brakes and steering are easy to inspect and maintain to factory standards.

The bottom line

This Hiace is the ideal choice for a business or large family needing a reliable, high-capacity vehicle that is cheap to run and easy to sell later. Given its below-average mileage for a 16-year-old Toyota bus, it represents a secure investment in one of the world's most durable platforms.
