Summary

This 2012 Hyundai Centennial GLS offers a rare opportunity to own a flagship luxury sedan designed to compete directly with elite European and Japanese executive cars. With its GCC specification and clean white exterior—the most sought-after color for resale in the region—it remains highly relevant for the local market. The 4.6L V8 powertrain provides effortless highway cruising, making it an ideal choice for regular travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. While its luxury features rival those of prestigious German brands, it benefits from Hyundai’s extensive and cost-effective service network across the GCC. For a buyer seeking maximum prestige and rear-seat comfort without the high maintenance overhead, this executive sedan is a compelling alternative.

This Car vs Other 2012 Centennials

With 190,000 km, this Centennial sits within the expected range for a 12-year-old executive sedan in the GCC, where highway-heavy driving is standard. Its white exterior is a strategic advantage, offering superior heat reflection and maintaining the highest resale demand in the secondary market. Compared to higher-mileage examples often found in this segment, this unit presents as a mechanically sound choice for regional use.

GLS vs Lower Trims

The GLS trim transforms the Centennial from a standard luxury car into a true VIP flagship, most notably featuring the four-seat configuration with a dedicated rear centre console. It adds critical GCC-specific upgrades such as ventilated seats and a premium Lexicon audio system that were absent on base models. Buyers also benefit from the more powerful 4.6L V8 engine, providing a significant performance step up over the entry-level 3.8L V6 variants.

Centennial vs Segment Rivals

The Centennial leads its primary rivals, the Lexus LS460 and BMW 7 Series, by offering a significantly lower cost of ownership and parts availability through Hyundai's massive regional network. While its competitors command a brand premium, the Centennial matches them in cabin insulation and highway stability, often featuring a larger fuel tank for superior range during cross-border drives. It provides the same 'limousine' rear legroom as long-wheelbase rivals at a more accessible price point.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 4.6L V8 averages approximately 10.7 L/100km, which is efficient for a large displacement engine on GCC highways. Hyundai’s authorized service centers are available in every major city across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring maintenance is never a logistical hurdle. While European luxury sedans typically depreciate by 12-18% annually in this market, the Centennial follows a more stable curve due to its mechanical simplicity and lower repair costs.

Performance & Capability

The naturally aspirated 4.6L V8 delivers 366 hp, propelling this executive sedan from 0–100 km/h in just 6.4 seconds. This power is delivered through a smooth rear-wheel-drive platform, ensuring stable and refined handling during high-speed highway overtaking. The car is electronically limited to a top speed of 240 km/h, highlighting its engineering focus on effortless long-distance performance across the emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a dedicated four-seat VIP environment, prioritizing rear-passenger comfort with executive reclining seats and independent climate zones. The powerful GCC-spec air conditioning system is designed to maintain a chilled environment even in 45°C+ summer heat, complemented by high-quality cabin insulation. Soft-touch leather surfaces and the premium multi-speaker audio system create a serene atmosphere for both the driver and passengers during daily commutes.

Safety

Standard safety features on the GLS trim include a comprehensive suite of airbags and electronic stability control tuned for high-speed highway safety. The vehicle features a reinforced luxury chassis designed for high-impact protection, alongside front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera to assist in tight urban environments. The inclusion of adaptive systems ensures consistent traction on both sandy coastal roads and well-maintained city highways.

The bottom line

This Centennial is the perfect fit for an executive or family looking for flagship luxury and V8 power with the reliability and low running costs of the Hyundai brand.
