Summary

This GCC-spec 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG is a prime example of the iconic four-door coupe that redefined the performance sedan segment. Finished in timeless black—a high-demand resale color in the UAE—it offers the perfect balance of executive presence and raw AMG power. While the mileage reflects a car that has enjoyed the Emirates' open highways, the hand-built 5.5-litre biturbo V8 is famously robust when maintained correctly. For the GCC buyer, this model represents a significant value opportunity to own a peak-era AMG that handles the summer heat and long-distance hauls with absolute composure. It remains one of the most distinctive silhouettes on the road, offering a level of character that modern downsized engines simply cannot replicate.

This Car vs Other 2013 CLS63 AMGs

With 175,000 km, this vehicle has covered distance consistent with typical UAE highway commuting, where cars often see 20,000–25,000 km annually. The black exterior is the most preferred color for resale in the local market, ensuring it stays desirable when it's time to trade up. Being a GCC-spec model, it features the cooling systems and AC capacity necessary for the region's extreme summer temperatures.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the flagship AMG variant, this car sits significantly above the CLS 350 and CLS 500, offering the performance-tuned Speedshift MCT 7-speed transmission and Airmatic rear suspension. The interior is elevated with Nappa leather, an IWC-design analog clock, and the full COMAND navigation system as standard. GCC buyers will particularly appreciate the standard high-output air conditioning and multi-zone climate control designed for this region.

CLS63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The CLS63 AMG leads rivals like the BMW M6 Gran Coupe and Audi RS7 in terms of low-end torque delivery and a more compliant highway ride. Its 5.5-litre biturbo engine provides a more muscular V8 soundtrack than the smaller-displacement engines found in newer competitors. For GCC long-distance driving, the CLS offers superior high-speed stability and a 66-litre fuel tank for fewer stops on cross-emirate trips.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.1 L/100km on the highway, though city driving in stop-start Dubai traffic will see this increase significantly. Mercedes-Benz has an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, making parts and specialized AMG technicians easy to find. While AMG models experience steeper early depreciation than Japanese rivals, the CLS63 has now reached a price floor in the GCC market where it retains value well as a modern classic.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this machine is the M157 5.5-litre V8, producing 518 hp and 700 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.4 seconds. This rear-wheel-drive configuration offers a pure driving experience that performance enthusiasts in the region still seek out. On the UAE's well-paved highways, the car effortlessly reaches its limited top speed of 250 km/h with remarkable cabin insulation.

Comfort & Cabin

The four-seat layout provides a private, executive lounge atmosphere with heavily bolstered AMG sport seats that keep you secure during spirited drives. The cabin is shielded from the GCC heat by high-quality acoustic glass and a powerful climate control system with dedicated rear vents. Even at high speeds, the insulation keeps the V8's roar outside unless you choose to unleash it through the throttle.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes 10 airbags and Mercedes-Benz's Attention Assist system, which is vital for long desert highway drives. The car also features high-performance AMG braking systems and Electronic Stability Program (ESP) tuned for high-speed intervention. These active systems provide a crucial safety net on multi-lane highways like the E11 where fast-moving traffic is the norm.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants the prestige and performance of a hand-built AMG V8 at a fraction of its original cost. It is a well-maintained, GCC-spec executive sedan that is ready for both the daily commute and the weekend drive to Jebel Jais.
