Lexus RX350 PLATINUM

Highlights

• 446 litres boot space (seats up)
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2015 Lexus RX 350 Platinum represents a smart entry point into the luxury crossover segment, offering a refined driving experience that few rivals can match for durability. With mileage at 85,000 km, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical GCC average for its age, making it a standout choice for long-term ownership. The white exterior is the most sought-after color in the region, ensuring better heat reflection and easier resale when you decide to upgrade. As a Japanese-engineered SUV, it handles the extreme summer temperatures and stop-start traffic of Dubai or Riyadh with industry-leading mechanical composure. For the practical luxury buyer, this is a vehicle that balances prestige with the most reliable V6 powertrain in its class.

This Car vs Other 2015 RX 350s

At 85,000 km, this RX 350 sits well below the average 200,000+ km typical for 2015 models in the GCC market. The white exterior provides a significant resale advantage locally, as it is the most preferred color for maintaining paint quality and cabin cooling. While it is a Canadian-spec vehicle, the mechanical components are identical to GCC versions, ensuring full compatibility with local workshops.

PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Platinum trim elevates the RX 350 experience by adding essential GCC features like ventilated front seats and a power moonroof as standard. It also includes upgraded 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels and perforated leather surfaces that offer superior breathability compared to the base fabric or synthetic options. Owners also benefit from an integrated driver's seat memory system and power-retractable heated mirrors.

RX 350 vs Segment Rivals

The RX 350 leads competitors like the BMW X5 and Audi Q5 in long-term reliability and cabin quietness. While German rivals focus on high-strung performance, the Lexus offers a 73-litre fuel tank that is better suited for long-distance highway cruises between emirates. Its naturally aspirated V6 avoids the cooling complexities often found in the turbocharged engines of its European counterparts.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 11.7 L/100km, which is efficient for a V6 SUV in mixed GCC conditions. Lexus enjoys the most extensive authorized service network in the region via distributors like Al-Futtaim and Ebrahim K. Kanoo, ensuring parts are always available. Historically, the RX 350 retains roughly 60-65% of its value after five years, significantly outperforming luxury rivals in the UAE and Saudi markets.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a smooth 3.5L V6 producing 270 horsepower, the RX 350 delivers linear acceleration that makes highway overtaking effortless. The six-speed automatic transmission is tuned for comfort, providing seamless shifts during heavy city traffic. With a ground clearance of 185 mm, it easily manages gravel tracks and suburban speed humps, while the 1,500 kg towing capacity adds versatility for weekend adventures.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary of quiet, featuring acoustic glass and high-grade insulation to block out desert wind noise. The five-seat layout offers generous legroom, and the dedicated rear climate vents ensure all passengers stay cool during the peak of summer. With the rear seats folded, the cargo space expands to a massive 2,274 litres, making it one of the most practical vehicles in its size class.

Safety

Safety is prioritized with a comprehensive suite of airbags including front-side, curtain, and knee protection. Standard stability and traction control systems are tuned to handle the sudden loss of grip on sandy or dusty road surfaces. For long highway drives, the cruise control and HID headlamps with auto-leveling provide enhanced visibility and reduced driver fatigue.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage Platinum-trim Lexus that is perfectly spec'd for the GCC climate. It is the ideal choice for a professional or family looking for a luxury SUV that prioritizes reliability and resale value over all else.
