Summary

This 2016 Chevrolet Impala LTZ offers a high-spec entry into the large American sedan segment, featuring a robust V6 powertrain that is well-suited for the long, high-speed highway commutes typical of the GCC. As the top-tier trim, it provides a significantly more refined cabin than base models, including premium leather and advanced driver aids that help manage daily traffic in cities like Dubai or Riyadh. While this is an American spec vehicle, the model is widely supported by a strong network of service centers across the UAE and wider region, ensuring reliable parts availability. Its Burgundy exterior presents a sophisticated alternative to the common white or silver, holding its appeal well in the local pre-owned market.

This Car vs Other 2016 Impalas

With 168,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is slightly lower than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average for GCC-based sedans of this age. While many 2016 models in the region have exceeded 200,000 km, this example remains in a competitive bracket for its year. The Burgundy color is a premium choice that stands out in a market dominated by monochromatic tones, offering a more executive aesthetic for professional buyers.

LTZ vs Lower Trims

The LTZ trim represents the highest level of luxury for this model year, upgrading the cabin from the basic cloth or leatherette found in LS and LT trims to full perforated leather upholstery. It introduces essential GCC comfort features such as ventilated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control as standard. Additionally, the LTZ adds safety tech like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure warning, which are often absent on lower-spec examples.

Impala vs Segment Rivals

The Impala leads rivals like the Toyota Avalon and Ford Taurus in terms of pure cabin volume and trunk space, offering a massive 532-liter cargo capacity that is ideal for family road trips between Emirates. Its 3.6-liter V6 provides 305 horsepower, giving it a performance edge over the standard 4-cylinder options found in some competitors. The ride quality is specifically tuned for highway cruising, providing a quieter, more insulated experience on long desert stretches compared to the more rigid suspension of the Dodge Charger.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the V6 engine averages around 10.6 L/100km combined, which is competitive for a full-size sedan in GCC stop-start traffic. As an American spec vehicle, buyers should ensure the cooling system and radio frequencies are optimized for the UAE, though parts are plentiful due to the model's shared platform with other GM vehicles. Service intervals typically fall every 10,000 km at independent specialists or authorized GM centers, with a depreciation rate that is generally more favorable than its European counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 3.6-liter V6 engine delivers a verified 305 horsepower, allowing this large sedan to reach 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds. This power is particularly useful for confident overtaking on high-speed arterial roads like Sheikh Zayed Road. The 6-speed automatic transmission is geared for smooth delivery rather than aggressive shifts, ensuring a relaxed drive even during heavy cross-border travel. A top speed of 220 km/h reflects the vehicle's capability as a stable, long-distance cruiser.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for maximum summer comfort, featuring an 8-inch MyLink touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay for seamless navigation. The LTZ trim includes ventilated seats that are essential for the GCC's extreme heat, along with dedicated rear AC vents to keep all five passengers cool. Massive legroom in both rows ensures that adult passengers can travel long distances without fatigue, while acoustic-laminated glass helps keep the interior serene and free from wind noise at highway speeds.

Safety

Safety is a primary strength of the LTZ trim, which comes equipped with 10 standard airbags—a higher count than many rivals in this price bracket. It features a suite of active safety technologies including forward collision alert and side blind-zone alert, providing crucial assistance during lane changes on busy multi-lane highways. The vehicle also boasts high crash-test ratings from the NHTSA, making it a reliable choice for family-focused buyers in the region.

The bottom line

For a buyer seeking American-style comfort and V6 power at a reasonable price point, this high-trim LTZ is a practical choice that handles the GCC climate and highway distances with ease.
