Summary

This Daihatsu Terios SVP is a reliable choice for those seeking a practical sub-compact SUV with genuine Japanese engineering. With 148,000 km, it sits right at the average for a 2016 model in the GCC, suggesting it has been used consistently for typical urban and highway commutes. The silver exterior is a top-tier choice for resale value in the UAE and handles the intense summer sun better than darker shades. In a market dominated by larger, fuel-heavy vehicles, this Terios stands out for its maneuverability and low running costs. It is a perfect fit for a small family or an individual needing an elevated driving position without the bulk of a full-sized 4x4.

This Car vs Other 2016 Terioss

At 148,000 km, this Terios aligns perfectly with typical GCC annual usage of roughly 20,000 km, indicating a well-utilized life on local highways. Its silver finish is one of the most sought-after colors in the regional used market, ensuring faster resale and better heat reflection. While many 2016 models may show high wear, this GCC-spec example remains a solid mechanical contender.

SVP vs Lower Trims

The SVP trim adds significant value over the base model, including factory alloy wheels and front fog lights that enhance the exterior profile. Inside, you benefit from a more functional cabin with keyless entry and power-adjustable mirrors, features that add daily convenience in the GCC. The split-folding rear seats in this trim also offer superior cargo flexibility for grocery runs or weekend trips.

Terios vs Segment Rivals

The Terios leads competitors like the Suzuki Jimny in terms of passenger practicality, offering a more comfortable five-seat layout and easier four-door access. Compared to larger crossovers like the Kia Sportage, the Terios offers a much tighter 9.4-meter turning circle, making it vastly superior for navigating crowded Dubai or Riyadh parking structures. Its body-on-frame inspired durability also gives it an edge on gravel paths where softer rivals might struggle.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 7.9 to 8.6 L/100km, providing an economical alternative for daily GCC traffic. Daihatsu enjoys the benefit of Toyota’s extensive service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, making parts and maintenance exceptionally accessible. The Terios typically retains roughly 60% of its value after three years, outperforming many European sub-compacts in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 1.5-litre engine provides 105 hp, which is perfectly tuned for steady urban driving and maintaining highway speeds between Emirates. Its 200 mm ground clearance is a standout feature for a vehicle of this size, allowing it to handle speed bumps and uneven sand-caked side roads with ease. While it is a road-focused SUV, the high seating position and rear-wheel-drive bias provide a confident and stable feel during long-distance desert highway drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed with vertical space in mind, offering surprising headroom for all passengers. The GCC-spec air conditioning system is robust, specifically engineered to maintain a cool environment even when outdoor temperatures exceed 45°C. Practical touches include multiple storage compartments and a 380-litre boot that expands significantly when the rear seats are folded flat.

Safety

Safety is managed by essential systems including dual front airbags and an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). These features provide necessary stability during sudden stops on fast-moving highways. The reinforced body structure and high visibility from the driver’s seat further enhance safety for family use in busy city environments.

The bottom line

This Terios SVP is an ideal match for the budget-conscious GCC buyer who needs a durable, easy-to-park SUV with a strong reputation for reliability and high resale potential.
