Summary

This 2016 Maserati Ghibli S Q4 is a compelling choice for those seeking Italian soul and performance in the executive sedan segment. With 191,000 km, this vehicle has been driven extensively across the GCC, proving its mechanical durability in the regional climate. As the higher-output S Q4 variant, it offers significantly more power and all-weather traction than the base model, making it a standout performer on local highways. Finished in black, it maintains a classic and highly desirable aesthetic for the UAE market, which helps anchor its future resale value compared to unconventional colors. For the driver who wants the sound and prestige of a Ferrari-engineered engine in a practical four-door package, this listing represents a mature and well-tested example of the marque.

This Car vs Other 2016 Ghiblis

At 191,000 km, this Ghibli's mileage is higher than the typical GCC average of 20,000 km per year, reflecting a life of consistent highway use rather than short-trip city wear. While many 10-year-old examples are kept as secondary cars, this vehicle's high mileage suggests a reliable mechanical history suited for the long-distance commutes common between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The black exterior is a primary strength in the local market, as it remains one of the most liquid colors for Italian luxury sedans in the GCC.

S Q4 vs Lower Trims

The S Q4 trim is a significant upgrade over the standard Ghibli, moving from rear-wheel drive to Maserati’s Q4 intelligent all-wheel-drive system for superior grip. Under the hood, the S Q4 features a high-output version of the 3.0L V6, delivering 404 hp compared to the base model's 345 hp. Additionally, this trim typically includes upgraded Brembo brakes and specialized suspension tuning that provides a much sharper driving experience on fast-moving UAE motorways.

Ghibli vs Segment Rivals

The Ghibli competes with the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class but distinguishes itself through its Ferrari-developed powertrain and distinctive exhaust note. Unlike its German rivals, the Ghibli offers a larger 80-litre fuel tank, providing superior range for long-distance desert highway drives. The Italian interior styling and Poltrona Frau leather options also provide a more artisanal cabin feel that stands out in a segment often dominated by clinical, mass-produced luxury.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the S Q4 averages approximately 14.1 L/100km in city traffic and 9.8 L/100km on the highway, requiring premium 98-octane fuel for optimal performance. Maserati has a well-established service network across the UAE and wider GCC, with major service intervals typically occurring every 20,000 km. While European luxury sedans face steeper depreciation than Japanese alternatives, the S Q4 trim maintains higher demand in the pre-owned market due to its superior performance specifications.

Performance & Capability

The headline figure is the 4.8-second 0–100 km/h sprint, powered by the F160 twin-turbo V6 engine assembled by Ferrari in Maranello. The Q4 all-wheel-drive system can shift 50% of torque to the front wheels in just 150 milliseconds, ensuring stability during sudden sand drifts or rare heavy rains. Coupled with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission, it offers effortless high-speed cruising and decisive overtaking power at highway speeds.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the Ghibli offers a five-seat layout with an emphasis on driver ergonomics and Italian luxury. The dual-zone climate control system is engineered to handle extreme GCC summer temperatures, supplemented by rear passenger air vents for consistent cooling. High-quality cabin insulation ensures that the signature engine growl is audible when desired but hushed during steady-state cruising, providing a refined environment for long cross-emirate trips.

Safety

The 2016 S Q4 comes standard with a comprehensive safety suite, including seven airbags and a sophisticated Maserati Stability Program (MSP). Key features for local driving include high-performance Brembo brakes for reliable stopping power in highway traffic and available blind-spot monitoring to assist on multi-lane roads. The Q4 system itself acts as a proactive safety feature, constantly monitoring grip levels to prevent loss of traction on dusty or uneven surfaces.

The bottom line

This Ghibli S Q4 is ideal for the enthusiast who prioritizes engine character and brand prestige over low mileage, offering a fully-sorted Italian performance sedan at a competitive market entry point. It remains one of the most soulful ways to navigate the GCC's highway network.
