Summary

This 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300 AMG combines executive presence with the sharpened aesthetics of the AMG Line, making it a highly desirable choice for the UAE’s professional landscape. With a mileage of 148,000 km, it sits right at the expected average for a luxury sedan in the GCC, where highway-heavy commutes are the norm. The grey exterior is a top-tier choice for resale value in the local market, offering a sophisticated look that handles the regional dust and sun exceptionally well. As the first year of the W213 generation, this model leapfrogged its rivals in cabin technology and safety. For a GCC buyer, this represents a chance to own a modern-era Mercedes that balances fuel efficiency with the prestige of the AMG trim.

This Car vs Other 2017 E300s

At 148,000 km, this E300 reflects typical GCC usage of approximately 21,000 km per year, consistent with a vehicle primarily used for inter-emirate highway travel. While many American-spec imports enter the market, this example’s grey finish is a significant advantage, as it is one of the most sought-after colors for resale in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Unlike higher-mileage examples often found in the secondary market, this car retains the tight body lines and interior integrity expected of the W213 generation.

AMG vs Lower Trims

The AMG trim elevates the E300 from a standard executive car to a sportier, more aggressive sedan with 19-inch AMG twin 5-spoke wheels and an aerodynamic body kit. Inside, the AMG Line adds a flat-bottomed sport steering wheel and brushed aluminum pedals that GCC buyers value for their premium feel. It also includes the high-resolution 12.3-inch widescreen cockpit as standard, a feature often optional on base Avantgarde trims, providing a much more modern interface for navigation and media.

E300 vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 of the same year, the E300 stands out with its 540-litre boot capacity, offering superior practicality for airport runs or golf trips. Its 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission is widely regarded as one of the smoothest in the segment, providing a more relaxed cruising experience on long desert roads than its rivals. The Mercedes cabin architecture also feels significantly more contemporary, utilizing a dual-screen layout that its competitors only adopted years later.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the E300 averages roughly 6.6 L/100km on the highway, making it an efficient long-distance cruiser between cities like Dubai and Muscat. Service intervals for Mercedes-Benz in the UAE are typically set at 15,000 km or 12 months, with a robust network of authorized service centers like Gargash and EMC ensuring parts availability across the GCC. While German luxury sedans face higher depreciation than Japanese workhorses, the E300 AMG trim holds its value better than the E200 due to its higher demand in the pre-owned market.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0L turbocharged engine delivers a punchy 245 hp, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 6.2 seconds, which is more than enough for confident highway overtaking. The AMG-tuned suspension provides a more planted feel at high speeds without sacrificing the signature Mercedes ride quality. With multiple drive modes including Sport and Sport+, the car can quickly transition from a comfortable city commuter to a more engaging driver’s car for weekend trips to Jebel Jais.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the GCC heat, featuring a high-capacity dual-zone climate control system that is specifically engineered to handle 45°C+ temperatures. Ambient lighting with 64 color options allows for a customizable interior atmosphere, while the acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during fast highway drives. The seating is ergonomically designed for long-distance comfort, ensuring that even three-hour cross-border drives feel effortless for all five occupants.

Safety

Safety is a primary strength, with this model year earning a 5-star Euro NCAP rating and top marks from the NHTSA. The E300 AMG comes equipped with Active Brake Assist and Attention Assist as standard, which are vital for the fast-paced, multi-lane traffic found on the E11. American-spec models typically include blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assistance, providing an extra layer of security during long desert stretches where driver fatigue can occur.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a blend of sport-inspired styling and modern tech at a sensible price point, this E300 AMG is a standout choice in the current market. Its desirable color and premium trim level make it a secure investment for someone who values both daily comfort and long-term resale potential.
