Summary

This 2017 Porsche 911 Targa 4 is a standout example of the refined 991.2 generation, featuring the desirable 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine that balances everyday usability with classic Porsche performance. Its striking blue exterior is a highly sought-after choice in the GCC, offering strong curb appeal and better heat reflection than darker palettes while maintaining excellent resale strength. With 84,959 km, the mileage is slightly below the GCC annual average for a seven-year-old vehicle, indicating it has been enjoyed primarily for weekend drives rather than daily commuting. The Targa's unique roof mechanism provides the open-air freedom of a convertible with the structural rigidity and security of a coupe, making it perfectly suited for the UAE's varied climate. For a GCC buyer, this model represents a versatile investment that handles the summer heat as comfortably as it does the winter highway runs.

This Car vs Other 2017 911s

With approximately 85,000 km, this Targa 4 has covered significantly less ground than many 2017 models in the GCC market, which often exceed 120,000 km due to long-distance highway use. The blue exterior is a premium choice that typically commands better interest at resale compared to standard white or silver, as it highlights the Targa's unique brushed metal roll bar. This mileage-to-age ratio suggests a well-preserved mechanical life, making it a compelling alternative to higher-mileage Carrera models from the same year.

TARGA 4 vs Lower Trims

The Targa 4 sits above the standard Carrera by offering a standard all-wheel-drive system and the iconic semi-convertible roof which is not available on lower trims. This specific trim adds the wider body styling from the Carrera 4, giving it a more aggressive stance and improved high-speed stability on GCC highways. Buyers also benefit from the standard inclusion of Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which allows for a more comfortable ride in city traffic compared to the fixed suspension on entry-level models.

911 vs Segment Rivals

The 911 Targa 4 competes directly with the Mercedes-AMG SL and the Jaguar F-Type AWD. It leads the segment in daily practicality, offering a 2+2 seating configuration that provides extra interior storage space which rivals often lack. Additionally, the Porsche's all-wheel-drive system is specifically engineered for on-road traction, providing superior confidence during rare but intense GCC rain showers and high-speed stability on cross-emirate drives.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L twin-turbo engine averages roughly 8.0 L/100km in combined conditions, proving exceptionally efficient for a sports car on long GCC highway stretches. In the UAE, Porsche benefits from a robust authorized service network with major centers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, ensuring parts availability is never a concern. The Targa 4 historically enjoys one of the lowest depreciation rates in the 911 lineup, typically retaining more value at the 5-year mark than comparable Carrera Cabriolet models.

Performance & Capability

Clocking 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, the Targa 4 offers blistering acceleration that makes highway overtaking effortless. The all-wheel-drive system ensures the 365 hp is delivered smoothly to the tarmac, providing immense grip through the sweeping curves of the Jebel Hafeet or Jebel Jais mountain roads. With a top speed of 287 km/h, it is a true grand tourer capable of covering long distances across the GCC with absolute composure.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for year-round GCC use, featuring a powerful air conditioning system that is legendary for its ability to cool the interior quickly even in peak summer temperatures. This Targa configuration offers 4 seats and a sophisticated cabin insulated from road noise, making it a viable choice for long-distance trips between cities like Dubai and Muscat. The inclusion of the PDK automatic transmission ensures a relaxed driving experience in heavy stop-start city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai.

Safety

The 2017 Targa 4 comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features including Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and an advanced airbag system. The all-wheel-drive system acts as a primary safety feature in the GCC, providing enhanced traction on sandy road surfaces or during heavy rain. Front and rear park assist are standard, providing essential help when navigating tight parking spaces in modern GCC malls and residential towers.

The bottom line

This Targa 4 is an ideal opportunity for a GCC enthusiast seeking a rare balance of iconic design and modern turbocharged efficiency. Its GCC-spec pedigree and sensible mileage make it a safe and rewarding purchase for anyone wanting 911 performance with daily-driver comfort.
