Summary

This 2018 Carrera GTS Convertible represents the sweet spot of the 991.2 generation, offering a perfect balance between everyday usability and track-ready performance. Finished in classic white—the strongest resale color in the GCC market—this example features the wider body and upgraded power kit standard on the GTS trim. With mileage reflecting typical weekend use for a sports car in the UAE, it has been driven enough to remain mechanically sound without the wear of a daily commuter. For the GCC buyer, the GTS is highly sought after for its enhanced cooling and aggressive aesthetic compared to the standard Carrera S. It remains one of the most practical supercars for the region, easily handling both high-speed highway cruises and stop-start city traffic.

This Car vs Other 2018 911s

With 79,100 km on the odometer, this 911 has averaged roughly 13,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC annual average of 20,000–25,000 km for standard passenger vehicles. In the niche sports car market, this mileage is considered average to low, indicating the car has been enjoyed rather than hidden away, which often results in better-maintained seals and mechanical components. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering maximum heat reflection and consistently high demand at resale.

CARRERA GTS vs Lower Trims

The GTS trim is the ultimate enthusiast's choice, adding 30 hp over the Carrera S and including the Sport Chrono Package and Sport Exhaust as standard. It features the wider chassis normally reserved for all-wheel-drive models, giving it a more muscular stance even in this rear-wheel-drive configuration. Buyers also benefit from the PASM active suspension and center-locking wheels, features that command a significant premium over the base Carrera at resale.

911 vs Segment Rivals

The 911 Carrera GTS competes directly with the Audi R8 V10 and the Mercedes-AMG GT. While rivals offer larger engines, the Porsche leads in daily practicality and cabin ergonomics, featuring a 2+2 seating layout that provides extra interior storage space which its competitors lack. Its turbocharged flat-six engine is specifically praised in the GCC for its reliability and thermal management during the extreme summer months.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L twin-turbo engine hovers around 11.2 L/100km combined, offering respectable efficiency for its performance class on long highway drives between emirates. Porsche maintains a strong authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended service intervals typically every 15,000 km or one year. As a non-hybrid 991.2 GTS, this model is expected to hold its value exceptionally well, as enthusiasts increasingly favor its more traditional cockpit layout over the fully digital interfaces of newer generations.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the lightning-fast PDK automatic transmission, this GTS rockets to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and can reach a verified top speed of 306 km/h. The rear-wheel-drive setup provides a pure driving experience, while the standard active suspension allows the car to stiffen for mountain drives in Jebel Jais or soften for comfortable cruising along Sheikh Zayed Road. The GTS-specific tuning ensures that all 550 Nm of torque is available from just 2,150 rpm, providing effortless overtaking power at any speed.

Comfort & Cabin

The 4-seat cabin is designed with the driver in mind, featuring the GTS-exclusive Alcantara interior trim and supportive 18-way Sport Seats Plus. Porsche’s air conditioning is renowned in the region for its ability to rapidly cool the cabin even after hours in the sun, a critical feature for convertible owners in the GCC. The insulated soft-top roof provides excellent acoustic isolation, making it surprisingly quiet at high highway speeds when closed.

Safety

Safety is paramount with Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and high-performance cross-drilled brakes that provide fade-free stopping power even in high temperatures. Standard safety features include advanced front and side airbags, parking sensors with a rear-view camera, and Bi-Xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) for superior visibility on unlit desert highways. The GTS also features an automated pop-up roll-over protection system specifically designed for the Cabriolet body style.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking the perfect 911 experience, this GCC-spec GTS Convertible offers the ideal combination of high-spec performance and local market resale strength.
