Summary

This 2017 Carrera 4S represents a sweet spot for GCC buyers, offering the turbocharged torque of the 991.2 generation paired with Porsche's renowned all-wheel-drive system. At 9 years old with 93,531 km, its mileage sits below the typical GCC average for a high-performance daily, suggesting careful ownership in a market where these are often driven between emirates. The Grey exterior is a high-demand, stable resale choice in the region, resisting the heat soak of darker shades while maintaining professional appeal. For the Dubai or Riyadh driver, this trim delivers significantly more real-world urgency than a standard Carrera, making it one of the most capable year-round sports cars available. Ownership of a GCC-spec 911 ensures full compatibility with local service networks and cooling requirements for our extreme summers.

This Car vs Other 2017 911s

With 93,531 km over 9 years, this 911 has averaged roughly 10,400 km per year, which is remarkably low compared to the 20,000–25,000 km annual average typical in the GCC. While many regional examples are used for frequent inter-city highway commutes, this car's usage suggests it has been preserved as a weekend or secondary vehicle. The Grey finish is a strategic advantage for local resale, as it is widely preferred over niche colors in the UAE and Saudi markets.

CARRERA 4S vs Lower Trims

The Carrera 4S is a major step up from the base Carrera, most notably featuring the wider body (rear hips are 44mm wider) and the iconic rear light strip. Mechanically, it adds 50 hp and 60 Nm of torque over the base model, along with a more sophisticated all-wheel-drive system that is particularly useful for maintaining stability during the occasional UAE rain shower or on gravel-strewn desert road shoulders. It also standardizes larger brakes and features a larger fuel tank for longer cruising range between highway stops.

911 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mercedes-AMG GT or the Jaguar F-Type R, the 911 Carrera 4S leads in daily usability and rear-seat practicality, offering two child-friendly seats that its rivals lack. Its 3.0-litre twin-turbo setup provides a more refined, linear power delivery suited for high-speed cruising between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, whereas rivals can feel more unsettled in stop-start traffic. The Porsche also benefits from a higher level of cabin cooling efficiency, a critical factor for GCC summers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 991.2 Carrera 4S typically averages around 10.5 L/100km, offering excellent efficiency for its performance class on long GCC highway runs. Maintenance is standardized at 15,000 km or one-year intervals, and with one of the most established luxury service networks in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, parts availability is rarely an issue. Historically, the 911 holds the strongest value retention in the sports car segment, often losing significantly less annually than its Italian or British competitors.

Performance & Capability

The 0–100 km/h sprint of 3.8 seconds (when equipped with Sport Chrono) makes this a formidable performer at the lights, while the top speed of 303 km/h ensures it never feels strained at legal highway limits. The all-wheel-drive system provides immense confidence, electronically managing torque distribution to prevent slip on sandy road surfaces common in the region. With the 7-speed PDK automatic, gear changes are nearly instantaneous, allowing for effortless overtaking at any speed.

Comfort & Cabin

The 2+2 seating layout provides a layer of practicality missing from most supercars, while the cabin insulation is specifically designed to handle high-temperature environments. Porsche's AC systems are notoriously robust, capable of cooling the interior quickly even after the car has been parked in direct sunlight. High-quality materials and an intuitive digital cockpit ensure that long-distance drives across borders remain a comfortable, premium experience.

Safety

This Carrera 4S features a comprehensive safety suite including Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which is highly effective on the varied road surfaces of the GCC. Standard equipment includes advanced multi-stage airbags and high-performance multi-piston brakes that provide exceptional stopping power. The all-wheel-drive system acts as a primary active safety feature, providing superior traction in the unpredictable grip levels found on desert-adjacent highways.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Carrera 4S is the ideal choice for the enthusiast who needs a reliable, high-performance daily driver that will hold its value better than almost anything else on the road.
