Summary

This 9-year-old 911 Carrera S offers a balanced combination of high-performance capability and long-term resale potential, particularly given the enduring popularity of the Blue exterior in the GCC market. With a twin-turbocharged powertrain that delivers a significant torque boost over earlier naturally aspirated models, it excels in both fast-moving highway traffic and weekend driving. The Carrera S trim is highly coveted in the region for its upgraded chassis and braking hardware compared to the base model. For a GCC buyer, this specific listing represents a chance to own a modern-era 911 that has already settled into a stable point on its depreciation curve. Its Gulf-spec configuration ensures that all cooling systems and interior materials are designed to withstand the local climate.

This Car vs Other 2017 911s

At 117,963 km, this car reflects a usage profile consistent with GCC driving habits, where long-distance commutes between emirates are common. While the mileage is slightly higher than European averages, it sits within the expected range for a 9-year-old daily-driven sports car in the UAE. The Blue finish is a strong resale asset in the local market, offering a sophisticated alternative to the more common white or silver options.

CARRERA S vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the Carrera S provides a significant performance jump, adding 50 hp and 50 Nm of torque over the standard Carrera. Beyond the power, this trim includes larger brakes with six-piston calipers and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard, lowering the ride height and improving stability on high-speed desert highways. These mechanical upgrades are highly valued by GCC enthusiasts and contribute to better value retention.

911 vs Segment Rivals

The 911 Carrera S is frequently cross-shopped with the Mercedes-AMG GT and the BMW 8 Series. While rivals may offer larger V8 engines, the 911 leads with its superior rear-engine traction and a more compact footprint that makes it far more manageable in city traffic. Its legendary reputation for mechanical reliability in high-heat conditions gives it a distinct ownership advantage over more temperamental supercars.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.0L twin-turbo engine is remarkably efficient for a sports car, averaging approximately 7.7 L/100km in mixed driving conditions. Maintenance is supported by an extensive network of authorized Porsche centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts are readily available. Historically, the 911 Carrera S retains roughly 65-70% of its value after five years in the GCC, performing significantly better than its Italian or British competitors.

Performance & Capability

With a top speed of 308 km/h and a sub-4 second 0-100 km/h time, this coupe provides elite performance that remains accessible for daily use. The rear-wheel-drive configuration paired with the PDK automatic transmission offers lightning-fast shifts, ideal for overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways. Precise steering and a low center of gravity ensure a composed feel even during the most demanding drives.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the 911 features a driver-centric cockpit with a high-resolution multi-touch display and premium materials that resist wear in the intense GCC sun. The dual-zone climate control is specifically engineered to maintain cabin temperatures during peak summer months. While the rear seats are best suited for additional cargo, the 2+2 layout provides extra versatility that many two-seat rivals lack.

Safety

Safety is managed by Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which provides critical assistance on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces. Standard features on this trim include six airbags, advanced anti-lock braking, and front and rear parking sensors to aid in tight urban environments. The high-performance braking system ensures shorter stopping distances, a vital safety factor on fast-moving multi-lane roads.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Carrera S is the ideal choice for a buyer seeking a reliable, high-performance icon that balances track-ready engineering with daily-driver practicality in the UAE climate.
