Summary

This 9-year-old 911 Carrera S offers a balanced entry into high-performance Porsche ownership with a mileage that is notably low for the GCC market. Finished in White, the most resilient resale color in the region, this coupe remains a highly liquid asset for local buyers. The Carrera S trim is the sweet spot for the 991.2 generation, offering a significant power jump over the base model while maintaining daily usability. With its GCC specification and precise handling, it handles long-distance highway cruises across the Emirates as effortlessly as it tackles a weekend track session.

This Car vs Other 2017 911s

At 67,469 km, this vehicle has averaged roughly 7,500 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000 km per year for sports cars. Its White exterior is the top-performing color for resale value in the UAE, providing a quicker exit and better price retention than brighter or niche shades. Being a GCC-spec model, it bypasses the warranty and part-compatibility issues often found with imported North American or European equivalents.

CARRERA S vs Lower Trims

Choosing the Carrera S over the base Carrera adds a substantial 50 horsepower and 50 Nm of torque through larger turbochargers and a revised engine tune. Beyond the power, the S trim typically upgrades the driving dynamics with larger 20-inch wheels and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), providing sharper turn-in during spirited driving. GCC buyers also benefit from the more robust braking system standard on the S, which manages heat more effectively during high-speed summer drives.

911 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Jaguar F-Type R or the Mercedes-AMG GT, the 911 leads with its 2+2 seating configuration, offering occasional rear-seat practicality that its competitors lack. Its rear-engine layout provides superior traction coming out of corners, a distinct advantage on the well-surfaced roads of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Additionally, the 911's cooling systems are legendary for their ability to maintain performance even when ambient temperatures exceed 45°C.

Running Costs & Resale

The 991.2 generation's twin-turbo engine is surprisingly efficient, achieving approximately 8.7 L/100km on combined cycles, though stop-start city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai will see this rise. Porsche 911s are known as 'safe money' in the GCC, with the Carrera S model traditionally depreciating at a much slower rate (roughly 10-12% annually) compared to its Italian or British peers. Service intervals are 15,000 km or one year, and the extensive authorized network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait ensures parts are always readily available.

Performance & Capability

With a top speed of 306 km/h, this Carrera S is built for the long, high-speed desert highways connecting the major cities of the GCC. The 3.0-litre flat-six engine delivers its 500 Nm of torque low in the rev range, making highway overtaking effortless without needing multiple downshifts. The 7-speed PDK automatic transmission is widely regarded as the best in the industry, providing lightning-fast shifts that keep the car in its power band during aggressive acceleration.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the 911 balances luxury with a focused cockpit, featuring 4-way or 14-way power-adjustable seats that provide excellent support. The dual-zone climate control is engineered to combat extreme desert heat, cooling the compact cabin significantly faster than larger luxury sedans. While the rear seats are best suited for children or extra luggage, the 145-litre front trunk (frunk) provides ample space for grocery runs or weekend trips between Emirates.

Safety

Standard safety features include Porsche Stability Management (PSM), which is essential for maintaining control on sandy or gravel-strewn road shoulders. High-performance multi-piston calipers provide immense stopping power, while front, side, and curtain airbags offer comprehensive protection for all occupants. This trim also benefits from Bi-Xenon or LED headlights, providing superior visibility during long night drives across unlit desert stretches.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast seeking a low-mileage, GCC-spec icon in the region's best resale color, this Carrera S represents a mechanically sound and financially prudent entry into the Porsche 911 legacy.
