Summary

This Porsche 911 Targa 4 represents a unique opportunity to own a 9-year-old sports icon that perfectly balances open-top freedom with coupe-like refinement. Finished in striking Orange, it stands out in the GCC market where bold heritage colors often command better interest and resale value than standard monochrome tones. The Targa 4 trim is highly desirable for its sophisticated retractable glass roof system and standard all-wheel drive, providing confidence on high-speed coastal runs or city commutes. While the mileage reflects regular enjoyment, this model generation is celebrated for its mechanical robustness and suitability for the regional climate. It remains the definitive choice for those seeking a year-round convertible that doesn't compromise on everyday usability in the UAE.

This Car vs Other 2017 911s

With 126,000 km, this vehicle has been driven roughly 14,000 km per year, which is well below the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen for daily-driven cars in the GCC. The vibrant Orange exterior is a high-demand heritage color that helps maintain a premium over more common silver or white examples. Its GCC specification ensures that the cooling systems and electronics are optimized for the extreme summer heat found across the Emirates.

TARGA 4 vs Lower Trims

The Targa 4 adds a signature wrap-around rear window and a sophisticated automated roof mechanism that distinguishes it from the standard Carrera Cabriolet. Unlike the base rear-wheel-drive models, the Targa 4 comes standard with Porsche's advanced all-wheel-drive system and the wider body shell, offering enhanced grip and a more muscular stance. It also features the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard, allowing the driver to toggle between firm track-ready handling and a more compliant highway cruise.

911 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to rivals like the Jaguar F-Type or the Mercedes-AMG SL, the 911 Targa 4 offers a more practical 2+2 seating layout and superior visibility thanks to its unique glass roof design. Its flat-six engine configuration provides a lower center of gravity than the V8s found in competitors, resulting in more precise turn-in during spirited drives. Furthermore, the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system in this model year is widely regarded as more intuitive and reliable for daily GCC navigation than contemporary rival interfaces.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L twin-turbo engine averages approximately 7.9 L/100km on combined cycles, though GCC city traffic may see this rise. Authorized Porsche Centers are well-established across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the wider GCC, ensuring parts and expert technical support are always available. The Targa 4 traditionally holds its value better than the standard Carrera or Cabriolet models due to its lower production numbers and iconic design status. You can expect a depreciation rate of roughly 12–15% annually, which is highly competitive for a European sports car in this market.

Performance & Capability

The 370 hp twin-turbo flat-six delivers linear power that makes highway overtaking effortless, even at high ambient temperatures. With the 7-speed PDK transmission, this Targa 4 reaches 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, a figure that remains impressive even by modern standards. The all-wheel-drive system is electro-hydraulically controlled, providing seamless torque distribution that enhances stability on sand-dusted road surfaces. Multiple drive modes allow you to transform the car from a quiet executive cruiser into a sharp-edged performance machine at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a driver-centric 2+2 layout with standard 14-way power-adjustable sport seats that offer excellent support for long-distance drives between emirates. Porsche's heavy-duty air conditioning is famously capable of handling the 45°C+ UAE summer, maintaining a chilled environment even with the large glass area of the Targa top. Sound insulation is a highlight; with the roof closed, the cabin is nearly as quiet as the hardtop coupe, making it ideal for the high-speed noise levels of the E11 highway. The interior materials are designed for durability, resisting the UV wear common in high-sunlight regions.

Safety

This Targa 4 is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Porsche Stability Management (PSM) and high-performance ventilated disc brakes for maximum stopping power. The reinforced Targa bar acts as a permanent roll-over protection system, providing peace of mind that traditional convertibles lack. Standard front and side airbags are supplemented by the POSIP (Porsche Side Impact Protection) system, ensuring top-tier occupant safety during fast-moving GCC highway transit.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants a head-turning daily driver with the security of all-wheel drive and the prestige of the Targa name, this Orange 911 is a standout GCC-spec choice. It offers the perfect mix of performance and iconic styling in a package that is mechanically ready for the region's unique driving demands.
