Summary

This 2017 Porsche Macan Turbo represents a rare opportunity to own the performance peak of the first-generation Macan, featuring the desirable 3.6-litre engine that was later downsized in subsequent models. With approximately 101,000 km, this GCC-spec example sits well below the average mileage for its age in the UAE market, where high-speed highway commuting is the norm. The Grey exterior is a highly resilient and sought-after choice for the region, ensuring better heat management and stronger resale liquidity than more niche colors. For the GCC buyer, the Turbo trim is the definitive choice, balancing extreme overtaking power for long desert stretches with a level of cabin refinement that makes daily Dubai or Abu Dhabi traffic effortless.

This Car vs Other 2017 Macans

While many Macans of this vintage in the GCC have surpassed 150,000 km due to inter-emirate travel, this vehicle's 101,674 km reading indicates a more selective usage pattern. As a GCC-spec model, it benefits from localized radiator and air conditioning tuning that American or European imports often lack, making it better suited for the extreme summer heat. The Volcano Grey metallic finish is a premium palette choice that holds value exceptionally well in the local market compared to non-metallic alternatives.

Turbo vs Lower Trims

The Turbo sits significantly above the Macan S and GTS, primarily through its unique 3.6-litre twin-turbo heart and standard fitment of high-end equipment. While lower trims often have these as expensive add-ons, this Turbo comes standard with the 14-speaker Bose audio system, 18-way adaptive sport seats, and full leather upholstery including a simulated suede headliner. It also features larger 6-piston brake calipers and standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for a more composed ride on high-speed motorways.

Macan vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the BMW X3 M40i or the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, the Macan Turbo offers a more sports-car-like seating position and superior PDK dual-clutch transmission response. Its 75-litre fuel tank provides a generous range for long-distance cruising across the GCC borders, while the chassis tuning remains the benchmark for on-road SUV dynamics. The Porsche badge in this region continues to command a higher prestige factor and more robust demand in the secondary market than its German counterparts.

Running Costs & Resale

Expect real-world fuel consumption to average around 11.5 L/100km in mixed GCC driving, though highway cruising at 120 km/h can see this drop significantly. Porsche's authorized service network is extensive across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, with recommended major service intervals typically falling every 30,000 km for the Turbo's spark plugs and every 60,000 km for the PDK transmission fluid. Historically, the Macan Turbo maintains one of the lowest depreciation rates in the luxury compact SUV segment, losing approximately 12–15% annually in the local market.

Performance & Capability

With a verified 0–100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 266 km/h, this SUV delivers performance that rivals many dedicated sports cars. The All Wheel Drive system is rear-biased, providing the agility expected of a Porsche while maintaining absolute stability during sudden lane changes or heavy rain on the E11. Multiple drive modes allow the driver to soften the suspension for city comfort or sharpen the engine response for a more aggressive drive through the Hajar Mountains.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in ergonomics, centered around the 18-way power-adjustable seats that provide exceptional support during long drives. Standard dual-zone climate control and dedicated rear vents ensure the cabin remains cool even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. The integration of high-quality materials, including the Alcantara headliner and brushed aluminum trim, creates a high-end environment that feels significantly more premium than the base Macan models.

Safety

This Macan Turbo is equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety tech including Porsche Stability Management (PSM), advanced multi-stage airbags, and high-performance brakes designed for repeated high-speed stops. The standard bi-xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) offer exceptional visibility for night driving on unlit desert roads. Front and rear parking sensors facilitate easier maneuvering in tight urban parking structures common in major GCC cities.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec Macan Turbo is the ideal acquisition for an enthusiast who demands 911-levels of performance in a daily-driver format that survives the local climate. Its sub-average mileage and high standard specification make it a standout choice in the current pre-owned market.
