Summary

This 2017 Porsche Macan S represents the ideal balance of sports car performance and daily SUV practicality for the GCC driver. With a mileage of 112,383 km, it sits right at the expected average for a 9-year-old vehicle in this region, where highway commuting is standard. The Macan S remains a class leader in handling, offering a sharper drive than most of its German rivals while maintaining high resale desirability due to its GCC specification. Grey is a consistently strong resale color in the local market, making this a sensible choice for those who value both driver engagement and value retention. Whether navigating Dubai's traffic or cruising to Abu Dhabi, this Macan S delivers a level of refinement that typical crossovers cannot match.

This Car vs Other 2017 Macan S

With 112,383 km on the clock, this 9-year-old Macan S has been driven roughly 12,500 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km. This lower-than-expected usage suggests better-preserved mechanical components and interior surfaces compared to high-mileage examples often found in the market. The grey exterior is a neutral, high-demand color in the UAE, ensuring it stays relevant for future resale.

S vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the S trim replaces the base model's 4-cylinder engine with a significantly more potent 3.0-litre V6 biturbo, providing the effortless highway passing power GCC drivers appreciate. Beyond the engine, the S trim typically includes upgraded 19-inch wheels and larger brakes, along with a more sophisticated dual-exhaust setup. These performance enhancements make the S the preferred entry point for enthusiasts who want a genuine Porsche experience.

Macan vs Segment Rivals

The Macan S leads competitors like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 when it comes to driving dynamics and steering precision, feeling more like a lifted sports car than a traditional utility vehicle. Its PDK transmission is widely regarded as the fastest and smoothest in the segment, a major advantage in stop-start city traffic. While some rivals offer more cargo volume, the Macan focuses on cabin quality and driver-centric ergonomics that are hard to beat.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the Macan S averages around 9.0 L/100km, though this will vary between open highway cruising and dense city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from a robust authorized service network across the UAE and the wider region, ensuring parts and expert technicians are always available. Porsche models generally retain their value better than most European luxury brands in the Middle East, particularly for well-maintained V6 examples.

Performance & Capability

With 335 hp and 460 Nm of torque, this Macan S reaches 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds and can hit a top speed of 254 km/h. The active four-wheel-drive system provides immense grip on the well-maintained highways of the Emirates, while the seven-speed PDK transmission ensures you are always in the right gear for a quick overtake. While not designed for heavy dune bashing, its ground clearance and sophisticated traction management make it perfectly capable for gravel paths and weekend escapes to the northern emirates.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is a masterclass in ergonomics, featuring a 5-seat layout with high-quality materials and a layout that mimics the 911 sports car. The air conditioning is engineered to handle the extreme 45°C+ summer heat of the Gulf, ensuring the cabin stays cool even during peak afternoon drives. Ample insulation keeps road noise to a minimum, and the 500-litre boot provides plenty of space for family groceries or weekend luggage.

Safety

Safety is comprehensive, featuring a suite of airbags and advanced stability control systems that are vital for high-speed highway travel. Standard equipment includes Porsche Traction Management (PTM) and anti-lock brakes designed to provide maximum stopping power in emergency situations. The Macan's rigid body structure and multi-collision brake system offer peace of mind for family transport across the GCC.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants Porsche DNA in a versatile daily driver, this lower-mileage GCC-spec Macan S is the smartest way to enter the brand without the high depreciation of a new model.
