Summary

This RAM 1500 Laramie offers a compelling mix of American muscle and high-end utility, finished in a resale-friendly Red that stands out in the UAE market. With the legendary 5.7L HEMI V8 under the hood, it provides the torque necessary for heavy towing and effortless highway cruising across the Emirates. Despite the mileage, the Laramie trim ensures a premium experience with leather-trimmed luxury that rivals many executive SUVs. In the GCC, these trucks are prized for their robust air conditioning and durable coil-spring suspension, making them ideal for both family road trips and weekend desert adventures. For a buyer looking for a proven workhorse that doesn't compromise on cabin comfort, this GCC-spec Laramie remains a top-tier choice.

This Car vs Other 2017 RAM 1500s

While 204,000 km is above the global average, it is considered typical for a full-size truck in the GCC where long-distance highway commutes between cities are common. This truck’s Red exterior is a vibrant alternative to the standard white and silver fleet, often holding better appeal for private enthusiast buyers in the UAE. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it avoids the insurance and cooling system complications often associated with imported American-spec models.

Laramie vs Lower Trims

Stepping up to the Laramie trim transforms the 1500 from a work truck into a luxury vehicle, adding standard ventilated and heated front seats which are essential for the GCC summer. It replaces the cloth interior of the Big Horn with premium leather and wood accents, while upgrading the audio to a 10-speaker Alpine surround-sound system. You also benefit from driver memory settings and a power-adjustable passenger seat, features rarely found on lower-tier trims.

RAM 1500 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado of the same era, the RAM 1500 leads in ride quality thanks to its segment-exclusive multi-link coil spring rear suspension. This setup provides a much smoother experience on UAE highways compared to the leaf springs found on its rivals. Additionally, the HEMI V8 offers a distinct mechanical character and sound that remains a major draw for truck enthusiasts in the region.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.7L HEMI V8 features Multi-Displacement System (MDS) technology, which shuts down four cylinders during highway cruising to optimize fuel efficiency. Owners should expect a combined fuel consumption of approximately 13.8L/100km, depending on city traffic conditions in Dubai or Riyadh. Maintenance is supported by an extensive network of authorized service centers across the GCC, ensuring parts availability and reliable long-term ownership. The Laramie trim historically retains value better than base models due to its high equipment levels.

Performance & Capability

Outputting 395 horsepower and 556 Nm of torque, this V8 powerhouse enables a maximum towing capacity of 4,826 kg, making it capable of hauling large boats or heavy equipment trailers with ease. The 8-speed automatic transmission ensures smooth power delivery whether you are overtaking on the E11 or navigating sandy terrain. Its robust body-on-frame construction provides the durability required for diverse GCC landscapes, from city streets to gravel wadis.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is configured for six passengers, featuring a front bench seat that adds rare versatility for larger families. Dual-zone automatic climate control and dedicated rear air vents ensure all occupants remain cool during extreme summer temperatures. The cabin is further enhanced by an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen and acoustic glass that significantly reduces wind and road noise during high-speed highway travel.

Safety

This Laramie comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Trailer Sway Control. The heavy-duty braking system and multiple airbags provide peace of mind for family use, while the integrated tire pressure monitoring system is particularly useful for maintaining safety during long drives in high heat.

The bottom line

Perfect for the GCC driver who needs the raw power of a V8 truck but refuses to sacrifice the creature comforts of a luxury SUV.
