Summary

This 2018 Ford F-150 Lariat stands as a high-tier opportunity for GCC buyers, combining the sought-after Coyote V8 engine with the premium Super Lux and Sport package enhancements. The Lariat trim bridges the gap between rugged utility and luxury, offering a more refined cabin experience than the base XLT models frequently found in the market. While this is a Canadian-spec vehicle, the V8 powertrain is globally respected for its durability and ease of maintenance in the heat of the GCC. The vibrant Red exterior offers a bold alternative to the more common desert tones, standing out significantly on the road. For the savvy local buyer, this truck delivers major towing muscle and high-end cabin tech at a more accessible entry point for a luxury pickup.

This Car vs Other 2018 F-150s

With 215,000 km, this F-150 has covered higher-than-average mileage for its year in the GCC, suggesting a life of steady highway commuting. In the local market, highway mileage is often preferred over city-driven stop-start wear, as the mechanical components remain at stable operating temperatures. This model benefits from the 2018 mid-cycle refresh, which brought a sharper grille and the more powerful version of the 5.0L engine compared to 2017 versions.

Lariat Super Lux+Sports Pk vs Lower Trims

The Lariat trim is a significant leap over the XLT, introducing essential GCC comforts like ventilated leather-trimmed seats and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. This specific Super Lux and Sport configuration adds the B&O premium audio system, a 360-degree camera for easier parking, and body-colored bumpers that replace the standard chrome for a more aggressive, modern aesthetic. It also includes the larger 8-inch productivity screen in the instrument cluster, a feature usually reserved for high-end luxury trucks.

F-150 vs Segment Rivals

The F-150 leads the Chevrolet Silverado and RAM 1500 with its high-strength, military-grade aluminum-alloy body, which significantly reduces weight and improves fuel efficiency without sacrificing strength. Its 5.0L naturally aspirated V8 is often preferred by GCC owners over the turbocharged rivals for its linear power delivery and long-term reliability in extreme temperatures. Additionally, the F-150's 136-litre fuel tank provides a superior driving range for long-distance desert trips between cities like Dubai and Riyadh.

Running Costs & Resale

The 5.0L V8 is a robust workhorse with a vast authorized service network across the UAE (Al Tayer) and the wider GCC, ensuring parts are affordable and readily available. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 13.5L/100km on highways, making it efficient for its class during cross-country drives. While Canadian specs may see slightly higher depreciation than GCC-spec equivalents, the popularity of the F-150 ensures a liquid used market with strong demand for well-maintained V8 models.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the legendary Coyote V8 producing 395 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, this truck is built for heavy-duty tasks with a maximum braked towing capacity of approximately 5,987 kg. The 10-speed automatic transmission ensures smooth power delivery, whether you are overtaking on the E11 or hauling a boat to the coast. It features selectable drive modes, including Tow/Haul and Sport, allowing you to optimize the powertrain for different GCC driving conditions.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for premium comfort during the intense GCC summers, featuring standard ventilated and heated front bucket seats with leather upholstery. The SuperCrew configuration offers best-in-class rear legroom, comfortably seating five adults for long-distance road trips. Interior highlights include the SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, a power-sliding rear window for ventilation, and a premium B&O sound system that provides exceptional audio clarity.

Safety

Standard safety features on this Lariat trim include the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, which is vital for navigating fast-moving highway traffic. It also comes equipped with a 360-degree camera system and parking sensors to manage its size in tight urban spaces. Active safety is further bolstered by AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control and a comprehensive suite of front and side-curtain airbags, earning high safety ratings in international testing.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the power of a V8 and the luxury of a high-trim cabin without the premium price of a 2024 model, this F-150 Lariat is a formidable and practical choice.
