Summary

This 2018 Honda Civic EXI is a standout choice in the GCC used market, offering a perfect balance of Japanese reliability and upgraded cabin technology. The black exterior remains a top-tier choice for resale value in the region, while the 2.0L engine provides more highway confidence than the base models. With its GCC-specific cooling and robust build, this sedan handles summer traffic and long inter-city drives with ease. It represents a sensible middle ground for buyers who want modern features like smartphone integration without the complexity of a turbocharged powertrain.

This Car vs Other 2018 Civics

At 142,000 km, this Civic sits slightly below the typical GCC average of 150,000–175,000 km for a six-year-old vehicle. The black exterior is highly sought after in the local market, ensuring it maintains better resale liquidity than niche colors. As a 2.0L model, it offers a more relaxed highway experience compared to the 1.6L variants often found in high-mileage fleet use.

EXI vs Lower Trims

The EXI trim provides a significant jump in daily comfort over the base LXi, most notably adding a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Owners also benefit from the Honda LaneWatch blind-spot camera, a power moonroof, and remote engine start—a vital feature for cooling the cabin before entering in the GCC summer. The audio system is upgraded to 180 watts with eight speakers, compared to the basic four-speaker setup in lower trims.

Civic vs Segment Rivals

The Civic routinely leads the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra in terms of interior ergonomics and driving engagement. Its low-slung chassis provides superior stability on fast-moving UAE highways, while the cabin feels more driver-focused than its peers. Compared to the Hyundai Elantra, the Civic typically commands a higher resale premium in the GCC due to Honda's reputation for long-term mechanical durability.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel economy is impressive, averaging around 7.0 L/100km on combined cycles, making it one of the most cost-effective non-hybrid sedans for commuting between Emirates. Honda maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, with parts readily available in every major city. The Civic has one of the slowest depreciation rates in its segment, typically losing only 8–10% of its value annually in the GCC.

Performance & Capability

The 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine produces a reliable 156 horsepower, offering smooth linear acceleration that is ideal for navigating stop-start city traffic. The CVT is tuned for efficiency but provides enough response for confident overtaking on high-speed routes like Sheikh Zayed Road. Its 10.8-meter turning circle makes it incredibly maneuverable in tight urban parking structures.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the EXI features dual-zone automatic climate control and dedicated rear ventilation, ensuring all five passengers stay comfortable during peak summer temperatures. The trunk offers a generous 428 liters of space, easily accommodating large grocery hauls or airport luggage. Acoustic windshield glass and high-quality cabin insulation help minimize road noise during long-distance highway cruising.

Safety

Standard safety features include six airbags and the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure designed to protect occupants in multi-vehicle collisions. The EXI trim adds the LaneWatch camera, which displays a live feed of the passenger-side blind spot on the central screen whenever the right turn signal is activated. Active systems like Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) provide essential support on sandy or rain-slicked road surfaces.

The bottom line

This Civic EXI is the ideal opportunity for a professional or small family seeking a tech-rich daily driver with proven GCC reliability and strong future resale potential.
