Summary

This 2018 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS is a compelling entry into mid-engine performance, finished in high-resale White that remains the most sought-after color in the GCC market. While the GTS trim typically features the 2.5L engine, this specific regional configuration pairs the aggressive GTS styling and chassis upgrades with the efficient 2.0L flat-four, offering a unique balance of lower running costs and elite handling. The GTS specification includes the Sport Chrono Package and active suspension as standard, features that command a significant premium for local buyers looking for a sharper driving experience. For a GCC owner, the mid-engine balance and rapid PDK transmission make it one of the most rewarding cars for both the daily Dubai commute and weekend drives to Jebel Jais. With its mileage reflecting consistent, well-maintained use, it represents a stable value proposition in a segment where GCC-spec Porsches hold their worth exceptionally well.

This Car vs Other 2018 718 Boxsters

With mileage just under 97,000 km, this vehicle sits at a typical average for a GCC-based daily driver of this age, where highway distances between emirates often result in higher annual totals than European equivalents. The White exterior is the top-performing resale color in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, offering better heat reflection and easier maintenance. Choosing a GTS-trimmed model over the standard 2018 base variants ensures you have the most desirable aesthetic and suspension package available for this generation.

GTS vs Lower Trims

The GTS trim is a significant step up from the base and S models, bundling the most popular performance options into a single package. It adds the Sport Chrono Package, Sport Exhaust System with black tips, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard equipment. Inside, you benefit from the GTS-specific Alcantara interior elements and Sport Seats Plus, which provide much better lateral support during spirited GCC highway drives.

718 Boxster vs Segment Rivals

The 718 Boxster leads rivals like the BMW Z4 and Audi TT RS primarily through its mid-engine layout, which provides superior balance and steering precision. While competitors often prioritize straight-line speed, the Porsche offers a more communicative chassis that is better suited for the high-quality winding roads found in the northern UAE. Its cabin cooling system is also widely regarded as more robust for handling the extreme 45°C+ summer peaks common in the region.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.0L turbocharged engine offers a combined fuel consumption of approximately 7.4L/100km, making it more economical for city driving in Riyadh or Dubai compared to the larger 2.5L or 4.0L variants. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km, and Porsche’s extensive authorized service network across the UAE and wider GCC ensures parts are readily available. As a GCC-spec Porsche, this car benefits from strong value retention, typically depreciating at a slower rate than its Italian or British convertible counterparts.

Performance & Capability

Delivering 300 hp and 380 Nm of torque, this 718 Boxster GTS utilizes its lightning-fast PDK transmission to handle high-speed overtaking with ease. The mid-engine configuration ensures the car remains planted through high-speed corners, while the selectable drive modes allow you to soften the suspension for relaxed cruising on the E11 highway. The Sport Exhaust provides a distinctive flat-four growl that adds to the theater of top-down driving during the cooler GCC winter months.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cockpit is focused and ergonomic, featuring a high-quality mix of leather and Alcantara that stays cooler under the sun than full-leather options. The air conditioning is engineered to cope with regional heat, maintaining cabin comfort even with the midday sun on the soft top. The GTS-specific GT Sport steering wheel and integrated Porsche Communication Management (PCM) ensure that despite its performance focus, it remains a comfortable environment for long-distance cross-border trips.

Safety

Standard safety features include the Porsche Side Impact Protection System (POSIP) and dual roll-over protection, essential for a convertible. The GTS trim includes upgraded braking hardware and electronic stability systems that are finely tuned for the sandy and high-heat surfaces often encountered on GCC roads. Additionally, the standard Bi-Xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) provide excellent visibility for night driving on unlit desert highways.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants the aggressive GTS look and precision handling without the higher fuel and insurance costs of the larger engines, this GCC-spec 718 Boxster is the ideal choice. It offers the perfect mix of status, open-top luxury, and legendary Porsche reliability in a color that guarantees easy resale.
