Summary

This 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman S is a compelling choice for the GCC driver, combining mid-engine balance with significant power for the open desert highways. Despite the mileage, the 2.5L engine remains a robust performer, offering a sharper acceleration profile than the base model. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the region, effectively masking desert dust while maintaining strong resale appeal in the UAE market. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it is fully optimized for local cooling requirements and benefits from Porsche's extensive service support in the Emirates. This listing represents a high-specification entry into Porsche ownership for those who prioritize mechanical engagement and everyday usability.

This Car vs Other 2018 718 Caymans

While 150,000 km is above the global average, it reflects the typical high-utilization highway driving often seen in the GCC for daily-driven sports cars. This mileage is countered by the car's Grey exterior, which is one of the most resilient and sought-after colors in the local used market for its heat-deflecting properties and ease of maintenance. Buyers benefit from a car that has been regularly exercised on the UAE's high-speed road network rather than sitting idle in the heat.

S vs Lower Trims

The S trim is a significant leap over the base Cayman, replacing the 2.0L engine with a 2.5L unit featuring Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG)—technology previously reserved for the 911 Turbo. In addition to the 50 hp power bump, the S trim standardizes larger brakes from the 911 Carrera and 19-inch wheels, providing superior stopping power and heat dissipation during aggressive summer drives. This trim also commonly includes upgraded interior finishes and the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system as standard.

718 Cayman vs Segment Rivals

In the GCC, the 718 Cayman S is frequently cross-shipped with the Audi TT RS and the Lotus Evora. The Porsche leads with its mid-engine layout, providing a neutral handling balance that the front-heavy Audi cannot match on technical drives like Jebel Jais. Furthermore, Porsche's established service network in Dubai and Abu Dhabi far outpaces Lotus, ensuring better parts availability and more reliable long-term maintenance support.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 718 Cayman S averages around 8.1 to 9.2 L/100km, though stop-start city traffic in Riyadh or Dubai can push this higher. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km or 12 months, with major maintenance including spark plugs required every 30,000 km for turbo models. Porsche 718 models exhibit excellent value retention in the GCC, typically depreciating slower than British or Italian rivals due to their reputation for mechanical durability in extreme heat.

Performance & Capability

The 718 Cayman S delivers a blistering 4.4-second 0–100 km/h sprint when equipped with the PDK transmission and Sport Chrono package. With a top speed of 285 km/h, it is perfectly suited for high-speed cruising across the Emirates. The mid-engine configuration ensures the car remains planted during high-speed lane changes, while the rear-wheel-drive setup provides a classic, communicative sports car experience.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cockpit is driver-centric, featuring high-quality materials designed to withstand the intense UV exposure of the region. The air conditioning system in GCC-spec Porsches is notoriously powerful, capable of rapidly cooling the compact cabin even in 45°C+ temperatures. Storage is surprisingly practical for a coupe, with dual 'frunk' and rear trunk spaces providing a combined capacity suitable for weekend trips between cities.

Safety

Standard safety features include the Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system, which is essential for maintaining traction on sandy or dusty road surfaces. It also features a suite of airbags and high-performance cross-drilled brakes that resist fade even under the thermal stress of GCC driving. Adaptive lighting and front/rear parking sensors provide additional confidence during night drives and tight city parking.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who wants 911-rivalling performance at a more accessible entry point, this GCC-spec 718 Cayman S is a battle-tested and well-supported choice.
