Summary

This 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS is a standout example of one of the most balanced mid-engine sports cars ever produced. Finished in a resale-friendly Grey, this GCC-spec GTS offers a significant performance jump over the base and S trims, making it a highly desirable choice for enthusiasts in the region. With its low-slung stance and sharp handling, it is perfectly suited for the UAE's high-speed motorways and technical weekend drives through Jebel Jais. As a GTS model, it comes factory-equipped with performance hardware that ensures it holds its value better than almost any rival in the segment.

This Car vs Other 2018 718 Caymans

While average annual mileage in the GCC typically sits around 25,000 km, this vehicle has been consistently driven, reflecting its reliability as a daily-capable sports car. The Grey exterior is a top-tier choice for the local market, offering excellent heat reflection and maintaining a higher resale value than more niche colors. Being a GCC-spec car, it benefits from a cooling system and interior materials designed specifically to withstand the extreme summer temperatures of the Gulf.

GTS vs Lower Trims

The GTS trim elevates the 718 experience by making the most sought-after Porsche performance options standard. It features the Sport Chrono Package with a dash-mounted stopwatch and steering wheel mode switch, along with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) which lowers the car by 10mm. You also get the mechanical rear differential lock and Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), providing a level of cornering precision that is often an expensive add-on for the Cayman S.

718 Cayman vs Segment Rivals

The 718 Cayman GTS leads rivals like the Jaguar F-Type and Audi TT RS with its superior mid-engine balance and legendary Porsche steering feel. Its 2.5-litre turbocharged engine provides a broader torque band than its naturally aspirated competitors, which is particularly useful for effortless overtaking on long desert highways. Additionally, the dual-trunk configuration offers more practical storage space than most dedicated two-seaters in this class.

Running Costs & Resale

Porsche vehicles in the GCC are known for exceptional value retention, with the GTS trim typically depreciating much slower than luxury sedans or rival sports cars. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 10.6 L/100km, which is efficient for a car of this performance level during highway commutes between Emirates. Authorized service centers are widely available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, with recommended major service intervals typically occurring every 20,000 km.

Performance & Capability

With a 0–100 km/h time of just 4.1 seconds when using Launch Control, this GTS delivers supercar-level acceleration. The 7-speed PDK transmission provides lightning-fast gear changes that are perfectly tuned for both stop-start city traffic and high-performance track days. The active suspension allows the driver to toggle between a comfortable highway cruise and a firm, track-ready setup at the touch of a button.

Comfort & Cabin

The driver-centric cabin features the high-grip Alcantara and leather combination characteristic of the GTS line, which stays cooler to the touch during the intense GCC summer than full leather. The dual-zone automatic climate control is robust, quickly cooling the compact two-seat cabin even in midday heat. Despite its performance focus, the interior is well-insulated, making it a refined companion for long-distance drives across the borders.

Safety

Standard safety features on this GTS include Bi-Xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System for superior visibility on unlit desert roads. The advanced Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system is tuned to provide a safety net while still allowing for an engaging driving experience. Large cross-drilled brakes with four-piston calipers ensure consistent, fade-free stopping power, which is a vital safety factor during high-speed highway driving.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec 718 Cayman GTS is the ideal choice for a buyer who wants the sharpest-handling Porsche available without the premium price of the newer 4.0 models. It represents a rare opportunity to own a high-spec, well-documented performance icon that is ready for both the daily commute and the open road.
