Summary

This 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman S represents a highly desirable sweet spot in the mid-engine sports car market, balancing everyday usability with track-ready performance. As an S trim, it features the larger 2.5-liter engine with 350 hp, a significant leap over the base model's 2.0-liter unit. Having covered 94,220 km over 9 years, this GCC-spec example has been driven approximately 10,500 km per year, which is remarkably low compared to the 20,000–25,000 km annual average typically seen in the region. The Blue exterior is a striking choice that holds its appeal well in the local market, and as a GCC-spec vehicle, it is purpose-built to handle the extreme heat of the UAE summer. For a buyer seeking the ultimate driver's car that remains comfortable enough for the commute between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, this Cayman S is a compelling opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2017 718 Caymans

With 94,220 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the average 2017 model in the GCC, which typically sees upwards of 180,000 km by this age. This low usage translates to less wear on the interior and mechanical components, a major advantage for resale. The Blue finish provides a vibrant alternative to the common silver and white cars often found in local showrooms.

S vs Lower Trims

The Cayman S is a substantial upgrade over the base 718, swapping the 2.0L engine for a 2.5L flat-four featuring Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG)—tech previously reserved for the 911 Turbo. It also adds larger 19-inch wheels and the beefier brake system from the 911 Carrera, providing the stopping power required for the increased performance. These mechanical upgrades are highly valued by GCC enthusiasts, ensuring the S holds a premium at resale.

718 Cayman vs Segment Rivals

The 718 Cayman S leads rivals like the Audi TT RS and BMW M2 in pure handling dynamics thanks to its mid-engine layout, which offers superior balance. Its front and rear luggage compartments provide unexpected practicality for weekend trips across the Emirates, surpassing the limited storage of most dedicated two-seaters. Additionally, Porsche's cooling systems are legendary for maintaining performance even when ambient temperatures exceed 45 degrees Celsius.

Running Costs & Resale

Porsche models in the GCC benefit from a robust authorized service network and high parts availability, which helps manage long-term maintenance. The 718 Cayman S typically sees a depreciation rate of 12-15% annually in the UAE, performing better than many European rivals due to its strong enthusiast following. For daily use, the turbocharged engine is surprisingly efficient on the highway while requiring 98-octane Super fuel to maintain its performance profile.

Performance & Capability

Equipped with the 7-speed PDK automatic, this Cayman S hits 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds when using launch control, making it a serious contender at any stoplight. The Variable Turbine Geometry ensures that the 420 Nm of torque is available from as low as 1,900 rpm, providing instant overtaking power on fast-moving UAE highways. Its mid-engine chassis provides a level of steering precision that makes every curve of a mountain road feel like a track day.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cockpit is driver-focused, featuring the 918 Spyder-style steering wheel and the intuitive PCM 4.0 infotainment system. For the GCC climate, the powerful air conditioning system is designed to drop cabin temperatures rapidly, while the build quality ensures a rattle-free experience even on older asphalt. The 718 generation also introduced updated seat designs that offer excellent lateral support without sacrificing comfort on long-distance drives.

Safety

Standard safety features include front and rear parking sensors, Bi-Xenon headlights with integrated LED running lights for high visibility, and Porsche Stability Management (PSM). The Cayman S also utilizes an advanced airbag system with head and thorax protection specifically tailored for the coupe's cabin dimensions. These systems provide peace of mind during the high-speed merges and heavy traffic common on the E11.

The bottom line

This is a rare low-mileage, GCC-spec Cayman S that offers a significant performance jump over the base model, making it the perfect choice for a UAE buyer who demands 911-levels of engineering in a more agile package.
