Summary

This 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman S is an exceptional find in the GCC market, offering a significant performance leap over the base model with its larger 2.5L engine. With just over 51,000 km, its mileage is impressively low for a six-year-old vehicle in this region, where highway commuting often doubles that figure. The Blue exterior is a striking choice that maintains strong appeal in the local pre-owned segment, while the S trim provides the mechanical depth serious drivers look for. Mid-engine balance makes it one of the most rewarding cars for weekend drives through the UAE’s mountainous terrain or well-paved coastal roads. For a buyer seeking the perfect bridge between a daily commuter and a dedicated track-day tool, this GCC-spec Cayman S is a premier opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2018 718 Caymans

At 51,703 km, this 718 Cayman S has been driven roughly 8,500 km per year, which is far below the GCC average of 20,000 km. This low usage suggests a life as a second vehicle or weekend car, preserving its mechanical longevity and interior condition. The Blue paintwork offers a distinctive alternative to the more common White or Silver, yet remains a desirable and safe choice for maintaining resale value in the local market.

S vs Lower Trims

The S trim is a major upgrade over the base Cayman, moving from a 2.0L to a 2.5L engine and adding Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG)—technology once reserved only for the 911 Turbo. Beyond the extra 50 hp, the S features larger brakes from the 911 Carrera and 19-inch wheels as standard. These enhancements provide the thermal management and stopping power essential for spirited driving in the extreme heat of the GCC summer.

718 Cayman vs Segment Rivals

The 718 Cayman S competes with the Lotus Evora and BMW M2, standing out for its superior mid-engine balance and daily usability. While rivals often feel compromised on long highway stretches, the Porsche offers a refined cabin and dual trunks (front and rear) for surprising practicality. Its cooling system is also world-class, consistently outperforming rivals when temperatures soar above 45°C in stop-start traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

The 718 Cayman S averages approximately 8.1 L/100km, though this will vary in GCC city traffic. Porsche maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring high-quality maintenance is always accessible. This model enjoys some of the highest value retention in the sports car segment, typically depreciating much slower than its European counterparts. Regular service intervals are every 15,000 km or 12 months, which is standard for high-performance vehicles in the region.

Performance & Capability

The 350 hp output and 420 Nm of torque allow for effortless highway overtaking and a 0–100 km/h sprint of just 4.4 seconds when equipped with the Sport Chrono package. The 7-speed PDK transmission is lightning-fast, making it ideal for the UAE's high-speed roads and occasional track use at the Dubai Autodrome. Rear-wheel drive combined with a central engine placement provides a level of agility that few other cars on the road can match.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cabin is focused entirely on the driver, featuring premium materials and an intuitive 7-inch touchscreen. Porsche's air conditioning systems are notoriously powerful, engineered to cool the small cabin rapidly even after being parked in the sun. Despite its performance focus, the cockpit remains quiet and comfortable for long-distance drives between emirates.

Safety

Standard safety features include front and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera, which are vital for navigating tight parking in urban areas like Downtown Dubai. The car is equipped with advanced stability management (PSM) and high-performance cross-drilled brakes that offer consistent performance under heavy use. Multiple airbags and a rigid chassis provide peace of mind during high-speed highway travel.

The bottom line

For the enthusiast who values precision and low-mileage provenance, this GCC-spec 718 Cayman S offers the best balance of Porsche performance and daily practicality currently available on the market.
