Summary

This 2023 Porsche 718 Cayman offers a rare opportunity to own a mid-engined sports car in its purest form, featuring a tactile 6-speed manual transmission. With just under 23,000 km, this GCC-spec example has been driven slightly less than the regional annual average, preserving its mechanical integrity and factory feel. The Blue exterior is a striking choice that stands out in the UAE market while maintaining the strong desirability and resale value associated with late-model Porsches. This trim provides the perfect balance of daily usability and track-ready balance, featuring Porsche’s legendary mid-ship handling. For a buyer in the GCC, the combination of a modern 2023 model year and the engagement of a manual gearbox makes this a highly collectible yet drivable investment.

This Car vs Other 2023 718 Caymans

With 22,917 km on the odometer, this Cayman sits below the typical 25,000 km per year average seen in the GCC market, making it a low-mileage option for its age. The Blue finish is a vibrant alternative to the standard monochrome palette, often attracting a quicker sale among enthusiasts in the UAE. Its GCC specification ensures the cooling systems and electronics are fully optimized for extreme summer temperatures.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the 718 range, the 'Standard' Cayman comes highly equipped with a 7-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) touchscreen and Xenon headlights as standard. While higher trims like the 'S' or 'GTS' focus on larger displacement, the 2.0-litre Standard trim is favored by GCC drivers for its lighter front end and better fuel efficiency during city commutes. It retains essential luxury features like dual-zone climate control and partial leather upholstery that are vital for comfort in the region.

718 Cayman vs Segment Rivals

The 718 Cayman leads its primary rivals, the BMW Z4 and Alpine A110, through its superior mid-engine balance and prestigious brand heritage. Unlike the Z4, the Cayman offers a dedicated coupe silhouette that provides better structural rigidity for high-speed stability on the E11 highway. Its precision-engineered manual gearbox offers a level of driver engagement that is increasingly difficult to find in contemporary rivals available in the Middle East.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0-litre manual is efficient for a sports car, averaging approximately 9.0 L/100km on long highway runs between Emirates. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km or 12 months, and Porsche's extensive authorized network across the UAE and wider GCC makes maintenance convenient. The 718 Cayman is known for exceptional value retention, often depreciating at a significantly slower rate than its executive sedan counterparts in the local market.

Performance & Capability

A top speed of 275 km/h and a 0–100 km/h sprint of 5.1 seconds demonstrate that the entry-level Cayman is a serious performance machine. The 300 hp turbocharged engine delivers peak torque of 380 Nm from just 1,950 rpm, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving UAE motorways. The manual transmission allows for total control over the power delivery, making it a favorite for weekend drives through the twisting roads of Jebel Jais.

Comfort & Cabin

The two-seat cockpit is focused and ergonomic, featuring high-quality materials designed to withstand the intense GCC sun. Standard dual-zone automatic climate control is exceptionally powerful, ensuring the cabin stays cool even when temperatures exceed 45°C. With two luggage compartments—one in the front and one in the rear—it offers surprising practicality for a sports coupe, suitable for weekend getaways across the border.

Safety

The 718 Cayman includes a robust safety suite with front and rear parking sensors and a multi-collision brake system. Stability is managed by the Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system, which is expertly calibrated to maintain traction on sand-dusted road surfaces. The car also features advanced airbag technology and high-performance cross-drilled brakes for consistent stopping power in all weather conditions.

The bottom line

This manual 718 Cayman is the ideal choice for the driving purist in the UAE who wants 2023 modern tech combined with low-mileage reliability and legendary Porsche handling.
