Summary

This 2019 Mitsubishi Montero Sport is a standout find in the GCC market, featuring a 3.0L V6 engine that offers a more refined and quieter drive than its diesel counterparts. With mileage sitting significantly below the regional average for its age, it represents a strategic long-term buy for families who prioritize mechanical longevity. The GLS Midline trim effectively bridges the gap between rugged utility and daily comfort, featuring key upgrades like a 360-degree camera and dual-zone climate control. Grey remains a neutral and resilient color choice for the region, showing less wear from desert dust while maintaining steady demand at resale. For a buyer in the Emirates or Saudi Arabia, the combination of bulletproof Mitsubishi reliability and a proven off-road pedigree makes this an ideal cross-emirate commuter.

This Car vs Other 2019 Montero Sports

At under 20,000 km, this vehicle’s mileage is exceptionally low for a 2019 model in the GCC, where the typical annual use often reaches 25,000 km. Most comparable listings from this year show significantly more engine hours, giving this specific unit a distinct advantage in terms of component life and overall interior preservation. The Grey exterior is a highly practical choice for the local climate, masking fine sand particles better than darker shades while resisting the intense UV exposure typical of the region.

GLS MIDLINE vs Lower Trims

The GLS Midline trim provides substantial upgrades over the base GLX, most notably adding the Multi-Around Monitor for a 360-degree view during tight parking. It features 18-inch alloy wheels and LED lighting which improve both aesthetics and nighttime visibility on unlit desert roads. Inside, you benefit from a more advanced infotainment suite and dual-zone automatic climate control, ensuring the cabin stays chilled even during peak summer months.

Montero Sport vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota Fortuner, the Montero Sport is frequently praised for its superior ride quality thanks to a more sophisticated multi-link rear suspension. While rivals like the Isuzu MU-X focus on pure utility, this Mitsubishi offers the Super Select II 4WD system, which allows for high-range 4WD driving on paved surfaces—a major safety benefit during the occasional GCC rainstorm. It also provides more standard interior tech than the base-spec Ford Everest, making it a better value proposition for family buyers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L V6 typically averages 13.6 L/100km, though this can rise in heavy Dubai or Riyadh stop-start traffic. Maintenance is straightforward, with a vast network of authorized service centers across all GCC countries ensuring parts are always readily available and affordable. The Montero Sport enjoys strong value retention in the local market, typically depreciating at a slower rate than European SUVs due to its reputation for enduring high-heat conditions without mechanical fatigue.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L V6 produces 215 hp and 285 Nm of torque, providing smooth power delivery for overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. Its 218 mm ground clearance and dedicated off-road modes (Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand, and Rock) make it genuinely capable for weekend desert camping or wadi exploration. The 8-speed automatic transmission is geared to keep revs low at cruising speeds, enhancing comfort on long drives between cities.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for family logistics, offering seven seats with a flexible layout to accommodate both passengers and cargo. High-output air conditioning with dedicated rear vents is standard, a critical feature for maintaining passenger comfort in 45°C+ temperatures. The GLS Midline interior uses durable materials that stand up well to family use, while acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during high-speed highway cruising.

Safety

This trim comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including 7 SRS airbags and Active Stability and Traction Control (M-ASTC) to help maintain grip on sandy surfaces. Standard driver aids include Hill Start Assist and Trailer Stability Assist, which are particularly useful for those towing jet skis or campers. The inclusion of the 360-degree camera system provides essential visibility, reducing blind spots in busy urban environments.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, GCC-spec V6 SUV that is equally at home in the city as it is in the dunes. It is the perfect choice for a family looking for Pajero-level durability with more modern technology and better highway manners.
