Summary

This 2022 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLX offers a highly practical entry point into the mid-size SUV segment, featuring the dependable 3.0L V6 engine. In the silver exterior, it carries the region's most popular resale color, ensuring it remains a liquid asset in the local market. The mileage is slightly above the regional annual average but reflects the typical highway usage common for family-sized vehicles in the UAE. As a GCC-spec model, it is factory-equipped with a cooling system optimized for extreme desert heat. For those seeking Pajero-style durability with more modern styling, this remains one of the most sensible choices available today.

This Car vs Other 2022 Montero Sports

With 91,428 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been utilized for consistent long-distance driving, which is often preferable to the mechanical strain of stop-start city traffic in the GCC. The silver paint is a strategic advantage for local owners, as it effectively hides desert dust and maintains a higher resale value compared to niche colors. It presents a mechanically sound opportunity to own a current-generation Mitsubishi without the premium price of showroom-fresh alternatives.

GLX vs Lower Trims

The GLX serves as the fundamental foundation for the Montero Sport range in the GCC, providing essential utility without the complexity of higher trims. Unlike lower-tier market versions found elsewhere, this GCC GLX includes the 8-speed automatic transmission and a 3.0L V6 as standard, ensuring it handles highway overtaking with ease. It prioritizes durable fabric seating and a simplified infotainment setup, which many local owners prefer for long-term maintenance simplicity.

Montero Sport vs Segment Rivals

When compared to the Toyota Fortuner or Nissan Xterra, the Montero Sport often leads on ride comfort thanks to its more compliant suspension tuning. It offers a more distinctive, aerodynamic profile than its boxier rivals, which aids in high-speed stability during cross-emirate trips. Furthermore, Mitsubishi's authorized service footprint is among the most extensive in the region, ensuring parts availability from Fujairah to Abu Dhabi.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L V6 is officially rated at approximately 10.5 L/100km combined, though users often see better efficiency during steady 120 km/h highway cruises. Service intervals are typically every 10,000 km, with a widespread network of Al Habtoor and other regional distributors ensuring competitive maintenance costs. Historically, these vehicles depreciate at roughly 10% annually in the GCC, performing much better than European luxury SUV counterparts.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0-litre V6 delivers a reliable 215 hp, managed by a smooth 8-speed automatic gearbox that keeps the engine in its optimal power band. While this specific GLX is a Front Wheel Drive configuration, it retains the high ground clearance of its 4WD siblings, making it ideal for navigating high curbs, gravel tracks, and water-logged roads during the rainy season. It is a dedicated road-going workhorse designed for family duties rather than heavy dune bashing.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is configured with seven seats, including a folding third row that allows for flexible cargo management. Special attention has been paid to the GCC climate, with a powerful air conditioning system and dedicated rear vents to ensure all passengers remain cool during the peak of summer. The silver exterior works in tandem with factory-tinted glass to further reduce heat soak when parked outdoors.

Safety

Safety is anchored by dual front airbags and a suite of active electronics including Anti-lock Braking (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). It features Mitsubishi’s reinforced RISE body construction, providing a rigid safety cell for all occupants. The inclusion of Active Stability and Traction Control is particularly beneficial for maintaining grip on sandy or oil-slicked asphalt during occasional regional storms.

The bottom line

Perfect for a growing family or a professional needing a reliable daily commuter, this Montero Sport offers the durability of a Japanese V6 with the best resale color in the GCC.
