Abarth had been making Fiat performance exhausts and tuning kits for a decade, but there is something different about this one. It’s called the Abarth 695 70th Anniversary model & as the name suggests, it’s a celebratory special edition model that pays homage to Abarth’s 70th anniversary, guaranteeing its legendary status.
First, it’s dressed in an exclusive paint finish, it’s called “Monza Green”. This shade of green is the same one that was used on the first 500 Abarth model, the same one that set six international records at the famed Italian racetrack back in 1958. There’s also a unique checkerboard design to the hatchback’s roof. Abarth’s old-scoop Scorpion logo is also prominently displayed in the body of the special edition Abarth 695. On the aerodynamic side, comes with flared wheel arches, side skirts that run a little deeper, part of the front bumper come in a silver finish, creating a nice two-tone look to this model. Speaking of which, the special edition hatch also sits on a set of wider 17-inch SuperSport alloy wheels. Just below the rear wing is the special edition Abarth’s quad-tailpipe setup with the Record Monza exhaust.
Good news is that the Abarth 695 is powered by the most potent version of Abarth’s turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Producing 180 BHP & power is sent to the front wheels courtesy of a five-speed transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential. It packs a power-to-weight ratio better that most hot hatches on the market.
On the inside unique floor mats are simple add-ons, but the real highlight of this section is the unique sport bucket seats that were developed by renowned aftermarket specialist Sabelt specifically for the 695 Anniversary. If there ever comes a point where you wonder what made the Abarth 695 Anniversary special, it would be the rear spoiler and the bucket seats. No two ways about it. There’s an Alcantara sport steering wheel, an aluminium shift-knob is also a nice retro touch while a seven-inch infotainment screen with a telemetry system and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility are answers for those inclined to modern technology.
