Summary

This 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT offers a high-performance entry point into the muscle SUV segment, balancing raw V8 power with a refined daily cabin. At six years old with 130,000 km, its mileage sits slightly below the typical GCC annual average for a highway-biased commuter, suggesting a well-maintained mechanical life. The Grey exterior is a highly resilient and neutral shade, consistently supporting strong resale value across the UAE and wider GCC market. While many SUVs in this bracket focus on utility, the SRT prioritize on-road chassis dynamics and massive naturally aspirated torque, making it a standout choice for those who value mechanical engagement. For a buyer in the region, the combination of American V8 reliability and an extensive local service network makes this a lower-risk performance investment than many European rivals.

This Car vs Other 2020 Grand Cherokees

With 130,000 km over six years, this SRT has averaged roughly 21,600 km annually, which is notably lower than the 25,000 km average often seen in the UAE's highway-heavy driving culture. The Canadian regional spec ensures a high build quality and consistent feature set, though local buyers should note the instrument cluster and climate units may require minor adjustments for the region. The Grey finish is one of the most practical colors for the local climate, hiding dust well while maintaining high demand in the used market.

SRT vs Lower Trims

The SRT trim transforms the Grand Cherokee from a family cruiser into a genuine performance machine, adding the 6.4-litre HEMI V8 and a specialized SRT-tuned adaptive damping suspension. Inside, it gains premium Nappa leather with suede inserts, a dedicated flat-bottom performance steering wheel, and carbon fiber interior accents that are absent on the Limited or Overland trims. Crucially for the GCC climate, the SRT comes standard with ventilated front seats and a high-performance Brembo braking system to handle high-speed stops in extreme heat.

Grand Cherokee vs Segment Rivals

The Grand Cherokee SRT competes directly with the BMW X5 M and Range Rover Sport SVR, leading the group in offering a large-displacement, naturally aspirated engine that provides a more linear and visceral power delivery. While its rivals rely on complex turbocharging systems, the Jeep's HEMI V8 is renowned for its durability and simpler maintenance profile in high-temperature environments. It also boasts one of the most impressive braked towing capacities in the segment, reaching up to 3,265 kg for those needing to haul boats or trailers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the SRT averages around 15.7 L/100km, though this can rise in stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh; however, the Fuel Saver technology deactivates four cylinders during highway cruising to optimize efficiency. Service intervals are typically every 12,000 km, and the SRT benefits from a massive authorized service network and readily available parts across the GCC. While performance SUVs generally depreciate faster than economy models, the SRT maintains a loyal enthusiast following in the UAE, resulting in better value retention than many equivalent German performance crossovers.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this SUV is the 6.4-litre V8, blasting to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds with the help of a factory-standard Launch Control system. The Selec-Track system allows the driver to choose between Auto, Sport, Track, Snow, and Tow modes, adjusting the 4WD torque split and suspension firmness to suit everything from city commutes to the occasional gravel path. With 637 Nm of torque, highway overtaking is effortless even when fully loaded with five passengers and luggage.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring heavily bolstered performance seats that keep you secure during spirited driving without sacrificing plushness for cross-border road trips. Rear passengers benefit from dedicated air conditioning vents and reclining seats, ensuring comfort during the peak summer months. The Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen includes Performance Pages, allowing you to monitor real-time oil pressure, G-force, and engine vitals directly from the dashboard.

Safety

Standard safety equipment on the SRT includes a full ADAS suite with Adaptive Cruise Control, which is essential for long desert highway drives, and Blind Spot Monitoring for multi-lane city traffic. It also features Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking and a specialized Rain Brake Support system that periodically dries the brake pads during wet weather to maintain maximum stopping power. Electronic Stability Control and an advanced All-Wheel Drive system work together to provide exceptional grip on both sand-dusted roads and high-speed tarmac.

The bottom line

For the GCC enthusiast, this Grand Cherokee SRT is the perfect balance of American muscle and SUV practicality, offering sub-5 second performance in a package that is far more affordable to maintain than its European counterparts.
