Summary

This 2020 Kia Telluride LX offers a rare balance of high utility and exceptionally low mileage for a vehicle in the GCC market. While many large SUVs of this age have crossed the 100,000 km mark, this example has covered just 47,000 km, preserving its mechanical life for years of regional travel. The Burgundy exterior provides a sophisticated look that stands out in a sea of white and silver, while the 3.8L V6 engine is widely respected across the Gulf for its reliability and ease of maintenance. For a buyer seeking a modern, eight-passenger crossover that fits into standard UAE parking spaces without sacrificing power, this Telluride is a standout choice. It represents a practical alternative to full-sized body-on-frame SUVs for families who prioritize on-road comfort and tech.

This Car vs Other 2020 Tellurides

At just 47,000 km, this Telluride has been driven roughly 10,000 km per year, which is significantly lower than the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km for family SUVs. This low usage means less wear on the suspension and drivetrain components, providing a clear longevity advantage for the next owner. While the Burgundy finish is a unique aesthetic choice, the model's overall popularity in the UAE ensures that resale interest remains high.

LX vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the Telluride, the LX focuses on maximizing passenger capacity with a full 8-seat bench configuration, which is often preferred by larger families over the 7-seat layout found in higher trims. It includes a comprehensive safety suite as standard, including blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control, features that many rivals only offer on mid-to-high-spec models. The LX also retains the same robust 3.8L V6 powertrain and all-wheel-drive system as the top-tier trims, ensuring no compromise on performance.

Telluride vs Segment Rivals

The Telluride consistently leads competitors like the Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer in cabin refinement and interior design, often drawing comparisons to luxury European brands. Its 3.8L V6 provides linear power delivery that is better suited for highway overtaking in fast-moving Dubai traffic than the smaller turbocharged engines found in some rivals. Additionally, its boxy design maximizes usable headroom in the third row, making it a more comfortable long-distance cruiser for eight adults.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.8L V6 is a proven, naturally aspirated engine that runs efficiently on local fuel grades and avoids the complexity of turbochargers, which can be sensitive to extreme summer heat. Kia’s authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, ensuring that parts and expert maintenance are always accessible. While American-spec vehicles typically see higher depreciation than GCC-spec cars, the Telluride's global reputation for reliability helps it retain value better than many other imported crossovers in the local market.

Performance & Capability

With 295 horsepower and a dedicated All-Wheel Drive system, this SUV handles long inter-emirate highway drives with effortless stability. The drive mode selector includes a specific Snow mode and an AWD Lock function, providing extra confidence when navigating gravel tracks or rain-slicked roads during the winter months. Its 203 mm ground clearance is ample for high curbs and light off-pavement excursions during weekend family outings.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed with GCC family logistics in mind, featuring dedicated air conditioning vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling during peak summer. Even with all eight seats occupied, the Telluride provides 594 liters of boot space, enough for grocery runs or light travel gear. The infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, keeping the driver connected during long commutes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Safety

Safety is a primary focus for the Telluride, which comes equipped with a full ADAS suite including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and a Rear-View Monitor with dynamic parking guidance. The inclusion of Safe Exit Assist is particularly valuable for families, preventing rear doors from opening if the car detects an approaching vehicle. These active systems provide peace of mind on the UAE's busy multi-lane highways.

The bottom line

This is a prime opportunity for a family buyer to secure a low-mileage, 8-seater SUV that offers modern safety and premium comfort at a more accessible price point than a GCC-spec equivalent.
