Summary

This 2020 Maserati Ghibli GranLusso represents a refined choice for the executive who values Italian soul over German clinical precision. With mileage sitting right at the expected GCC average for its age, it has been driven exactly as a grand tourer should be—primarily on the UAE's high-speed highways. The GranLusso trim is highly regarded in the local market for its focus on cabin luxury, making it a more comfortable daily companion in traffic than the firmer GranSport. For the buyer who wants the unmistakable roar of a Ferrari-assembled engine paired with a sedan body, this GCC-spec example offers the ideal balance of performance and presence. Ownership of a Ghibli in the region is a statement of individuality, ensuring you stand out at any valet in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

This Car vs Other 2020 Ghiblis

At 104,000 km, this vehicle aligns perfectly with the typical GCC annual usage of 25,000 km, suggesting it has served as a consistent highway commuter rather than a neglected city car. The Grey exterior is a neutral and highly practical choice for the region, resisting the visible effects of dust while maintaining strong resale appeal. Compared to many imported American-spec models, this GCC-spec unit ensures full compatibility with local navigation systems and cooling requirements.

GranLusso vs Lower Trims

The GranLusso trim is a significant step up from the base model, adding essential luxury features for the GCC climate, most notably the ventilated front seats which are a necessity during summer months. It also upgrades the cabin with a 10-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system and adaptive LED Matrix headlights for superior visibility on unlit desert roads. Furthermore, the GranLusso includes the Driver Assistance package as standard for 2020, providing a 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise control.

Ghibli vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class prioritize efficiency and clinical tech, the Ghibli leads with its Ferrari-developed powertrain and emotional exhaust note. It offers a larger 80-litre fuel tank than many competitors, providing a significant range advantage for long-distance drives across the Emirates. The Ghibli remains the choice for those who value mechanical character and Italian design over the ubiquitous nature of its German peers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages around 11.0L/100km, though this can rise in the stop-start traffic of Riyadh or Dubai. Maserati has a well-established authorized service network through Al Tayer in the UAE and similar premier distributors across the GCC, ensuring specialized maintenance is always accessible. While European luxury sedans typically see an annual depreciation of 15-18% in this market, the Ghibli's rarity helps it maintain a dedicated niche of buyers on the used market.

Performance & Capability

The heart of this Ghibli is a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 producing 350 hp, capable of reaching 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The 8-speed ZF automatic transmission is tuned for smooth highway cruising but reacts sharply when Sport mode is engaged, opening the exhaust baffles for a truly visceral experience. Its rear-wheel-drive configuration and 50/50 weight distribution provide a balanced, athletic handling profile that excels on the sweeping curves of Jebel Hafeet.

Comfort & Cabin

Inside, the GranLusso trim replaces standard plastics with premium materials and Ermenegildo Zegna silk inserts or perforated leather. The dual-zone climate control is specifically engineered to handle extreme temperatures, supported by rear passenger vents to keep all occupants cool. The 8.4-inch Maserati Touch Control Plus system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ensuring modern connectivity is seamless during long commutes.

Safety

This 2020 model comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Forward Collision Warning Plus, which is vital for fast-moving highway traffic. It also features Blind Spot Assist and Rear Cross Path detection to help navigate multi-lane city roads safely. The inclusion of a 360-degree surround-view camera makes parking this nearly 5-meter-long sedan effortless in tight mall parking structures.

The bottom line

Perfect for the professional who wants an exotic Italian engine in a usable four-door format, this well-maintained GCC-spec GranLusso offers a high-luxury specification that is perfectly suited for the region's lifestyle.
