Summary

This 2021 Ghibli represents a significant update for the model, featuring the refined 'boomerang' tail lights and an overhauled 10.1-inch infotainment system that brings much-needed modern tech to the cabin. Finished in a resale-friendly white, this GCC-spec sedan is an attractive entry into Italian luxury, offering the distinct Maserati engine note with improved daily usability. Its mild-hybrid system is particularly beneficial for stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh, providing a boost in efficiency without sacrificing the brand’s performance DNA. With mileage that sits comfortably at the regional average for its age, it offers a well-balanced opportunity for those seeking an executive sedan with genuine character. It stands out against German rivals by offering a level of exclusivity and design flair that is rare in the segment.

This Car vs Other 2021 Ghiblis

With 45,681 km on the odometer, this Ghibli sits right at the average expected mileage for a three-year-old executive sedan in the GCC, where 15,000–20,000 km per year is typical. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the region, offering the best heat reflection and the strongest resale value in the UAE and Saudi markets. While many Ghiblis of this era are high-output V6 models, this hybrid variant is increasingly sought after for its better fuel economy in heavy traffic.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

As the foundational trim for the 2021 refresh, this model includes the new 10.1-inch high-resolution touchscreen and redesigned digital instrument cluster as standard. It features high-quality Italian leather and heated front seats, providing a luxury baseline that often requires expensive options on German competitors. While higher trims add carbon fiber accents or larger wheels, this trim maintains a focus on grand-touring comfort and ride quality.

Ghibli vs Segment Rivals

The Ghibli competes with the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, standing apart through its Italian styling and a more emotive engine sound. It leads in exclusivity, ensuring you won't see three identical cars at the same valet stand, and its 70-litre fuel tank provides excellent range for long highway drives between Emirates. The interior design prioritizes a 'cockpit' feel that is more driver-centric than the business-like cabins of its peers.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the Hybrid settles around 8.1 L/100km on the combined cycle, a noticeable improvement over the 11.5 L/100km seen in the V6 models during GCC city driving. Service intervals are typically every 15,000 km or 12 months, and Maserati has a well-established authorized network via Al Tayer in the UAE and Fast Auto Technic in KSA. While Italian luxury sedans face steeper depreciation than Japanese alternatives, this specific 2021 refresh holds value better due to its modernized tech suite.

Performance & Capability

The 330 hp hybrid powertrain delivers a surprising 450 Nm of torque from just 1,500 rpm, ensuring immediate response for highway overtaking. A top speed of 255 km/h and a 5.7-second sprint to 100 km/h keep it competitive with sport-focused executive rivals. The rear-wheel-drive layout and 48V eBooster provide a balanced, agile feel that makes long desert highway stretches feel effortless.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a standout for material quality, featuring fine leather and a layout that emphasizes handcrafted luxury. Dual-zone climate control and rear cooling vents are essential for the GCC summer, and the acoustic glass ensures a quiet environment away from road noise. The 500-litre boot is generous for the segment, easily accommodating golf clubs or family luggage for weekend trips.

Safety

This Ghibli is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Blind Spot Alert, which is vital for fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic. Standard equipment includes front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and multiple airbags, all of which contributed to the model's high safety ratings. The stability and traction control systems are specifically calibrated to handle the varying grip levels found on sandy or gravel-strewn regional roads.

The bottom line

For the executive who wants to escape the German norm, this 2021 Ghibli offers the perfect blend of updated technology, regional resale stability, and that unmistakable Italian soul.
