Summary

This 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Signature Edition represents the peak of one of the GCC's most trusted nameplates, combining bulletproof reliability with premium aesthetic upgrades. With just 64,669 km on the clock, this 6-year-old SUV has seen significantly less road time than the typical 25,000 km per year average for UAE-based vehicles, making it an excellent long-term prospect. The Signature Edition trim adds a distinctive black-and-gold exterior theme and carbon fiber interior accents that set it apart from standard models on the road. For the GCC buyer, the primary draw is the combination of the larger 3.8L engine and the Super Select II 4WD system, which provides genuine desert capability without the premium price tag of its rivals. It remains a top choice for families who need a rugged workhorse that can transition from city school runs to weekend dune bashing with zero mechanical drama.

This Car vs Other 2020 Pajeros

At 64,669 km, this vehicle’s mileage is exceptionally low for a 6-year-old car in the GCC, where the annual average often exceeds 20,000 km. While most 2020 models on the market are nearing the 120,000 km mark, this example offers a significantly fresher mechanical state. The Signature Edition trim also ensures higher resale desirability compared to the more common GLS base trims.

GLS H/L SIGNATURE EDI vs Lower Trims

The Signature Edition is a major step up from the standard GLS, featuring a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and a premium 12-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system. Externally, it is distinguished by a redesigned front bumper with a lip, blacked-out grille, and gold-finished hood ornaments. Inside, the cabin is elevated with ambient lighting, a star-light roof effect, and carbon fiber trim elements.

Pajero vs Segment Rivals

The Pajero is most often cross-shipped with the Toyota Prado and Nissan Xterra. While the Prado offers higher resale residuals, the Pajero leads in pure value-for-money, offering a 3.8L V6 for a price where rivals often only provide 4-cylinder engines. Its Super Select II 4WD system is also more versatile than most competitors, allowing the driver to engage 4WD on high-speed tarmac.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.8L V6 typically returns between 13.5L and 15.5L/100km in mixed GCC driving, reflecting its heavy-duty nature and the demands of local climate cooling. Maintenance is highly affordable thanks to one of the most extensive authorized and independent service networks across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Historically, the Pajero retains roughly 65-68% of its value over five years in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 3.8L MIVEC engine provides 243 hp and 327 Nm of torque, ensuring confident overtaking on fast-moving highways like E11. Its 235 mm ground clearance and specialized Super Select 4WD II system—including a rear differential lock—make it one of the most capable out-of-the-box desert vehicles in its class. It is legally rated for a 3,000 kg braked towing capacity, making it a favorite for hauling jet skis or camper trailers.

Comfort & Cabin

Designed for the extreme heat of the Gulf, the Pajero features a powerful dual-zone climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows. The 7-seat configuration is highly flexible, with a third row that can be folded completely flat or removed to maximize cargo space. High-quality leather seats and the Signature Edition's ambient lighting provide a more premium atmosphere during long cross-border drives.

Safety

This trim includes a comprehensive safety suite featuring active stability and traction control (ASTC), which is vital for maintaining grip on loose sand and gravel. Standard features include a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and multiple airbags. The heavy-duty body-on-frame construction provides a solid safety cell, while the Super Select system allows for all-wheel-drive stability during rare but hazardous GCC rainstorms.

The bottom line

For the buyer seeking a low-mileage, high-spec 4x4 that balances daily family utility with genuine off-road heritage, this Signature Edition is the most logical and stylish choice in the current market.
