Summary

This 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero represents a high-spec opportunity in the GCC market, combining the most powerful 3.8L engine with the sought-after Rockford Platinum trim. With 71,000 km, it sits below the typical mileage for its age in a region where long-distance driving is the norm. The brown exterior offers a sophisticated alternative to the common white and silver, while maintaining strong resale appeal for its premium look. As a true body-on-frame SUV with proven mechanicals, it remains a favorite for GCC families who need a reliable daily driver that can transition seamlessly into desert exploration on weekends. The widespread Mitsubishi service network across the Gulf makes long-term ownership both predictable and cost-effective.

This Car vs Other 2020 Pajeros

With just 71,000 km on the odometer, this Pajero has been driven significantly less than the 80,000–100,000 km average expected for a four-year-old vehicle in the GCC. The 3.8L V6 engine provides a meaningful power advantage over the 3.0L and 3.5L variants commonly found in the market, making it much better suited for highway overtaking and heavy sand driving. While white is the most common color, this brown finish highlights the Platinum trim's chrome accents and is highly regarded in the pre-owned market for its premium executive appearance.

GLS H/L ROCKFORD PLATINUM vs Lower Trims

The Rockford Platinum trim is a significant step up from the base GLS, headlined by the premium 12-speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system with a factory-integrated subwoofer that occupies the rear cargo area. It adds essential GCC comforts like high-grade leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, and a large sunroof that are absent on mid-spec trims. Furthermore, the Platinum edition includes specialized chrome styling elements and unique alloy wheels that differentiate it as the flagship of the range.

Pajero vs Segment Rivals

The Pajero is often cross-shipped with the Toyota Prado and Nissan Pathfinder, where it leads in terms of pure value-for-money and mechanical simplicity. Unlike the road-biased Pathfinder, the Pajero features a genuine low-range transfer case and a lockable rear differential, giving it superior capability in soft GCC sand. While the Prado commands a higher resale premium, the Pajero offers a more connected driving feel on the highway thanks to its independent rear suspension, which reduces body roll compared to its ladder-frame rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.8L V6 typically ranges between 13.5L/100km on the highway and up to 18L/100km in heavy stop-start city traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. Service intervals are set at 10,000 km, with one of the most extensive authorized service networks in the GCC ensuring parts availability from Kuwait to Oman. While the Pajero depreciates slightly faster than the Toyota Prado, it retains roughly 65-70% of its value over three years, making it a stable asset in the local market.

Performance & Capability

The 3.8L MIVEC engine delivers a robust 236 hp, providing the necessary torque to navigate steep dunes or maintain high cruising speeds on the E11 highway. Its Super Select II 4WD system is a standout, allowing the driver to switch between fuel-efficient 2WD and high-traction 4WD at speeds up to 100 km/h. With 235 mm of ground clearance and a documented 700 mm wading depth, it is purpose-built for the diverse terrains of the Middle East, from rocky wadis to soft desert tracks.

Comfort & Cabin

The seven-seat cabin is designed for the Gulf climate, featuring a powerful dual-zone air conditioning system with dedicated vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling during summer peaks. The premium Rockford Fosgate system provides acoustic clarity even at high highway speeds, while the leather-trimmed interior offers durability for family use. The third-row seats can be folded flat into the floor or removed entirely, providing flexible cargo space for camping gear or large grocery runs.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite including Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), which is vital for maintaining grip on loose sand and gravel. This trim features multiple SRS airbags, including side and curtain bags, providing protection for all seven occupants. Standard electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist help manage the vehicle's weight during emergency stops on high-speed highways, while the rear-view camera and sensors make parking in tight urban spaces far more manageable.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a buyer seeking the ultimate Pajero specification with below-average mileage, offering a perfect blend of premium cabin tech and legendary off-road hardware.
