Summary

This 2020 Mitsubishi Pajero Signature Edition represents the final refinement of a legendary nameplate, offering a level of durability and simplicity that is increasingly rare in the modern SUV market. Powered by the range-topping 3.8L V6 engine, it provides significantly more effortless highway cruising and overtaking ability than the smaller 3.0L or 3.5L variants commonly found in the UAE. The Signature Edition adds premium touches like leather upholstery and a rear entertainment system, making it an ideal candidate for large families who prioritize comfort and proven mechanical reliability. In a market where newer, complex turbocharged rivals can face heat-related electronic issues, the Pajero’s robust naturally aspirated powertrain and heavy-duty cooling system remain a gold standard for GCC summer performance. It is a strategic buy for those seeking a go-anywhere 7-seater that holds its value exceptionally well across the region.

This Car vs Other 2020 Pajeros

With just over 108,000 km, this Pajero has averaged roughly 21,000 km per year, which is perfectly in line with the GCC average for family SUVs used for inter-emirate commuting. The White exterior is the most sought-after color in the regional used market, offering the best heat rejection during summer and commanding the strongest resale demand. Unlike many entry-level 3.0L models from this year, this 3.8L Signature Edition represents the highest mechanical and equipment specification available.

Signature Edition vs Lower Trims

The Signature Edition significantly upgrades the cabin experience over the standard GLS, featuring a 12-speaker Rockford Acoustic Design audio system and a factory-fitted rear-seat entertainment system. It also gains the essential rear differential lock for serious desert driving, which is often omitted on lower two-wheel-drive biased trims. Additional premium features include full leather power-adjustable seats, a signature body kit, and 18-inch alloy wheels that provide a more commanding road presence.

Pajero vs Segment Rivals

The Pajero is frequently cross-shopped with the Toyota Prado and Nissan Pathfinder, where it leads on pure value-for-money and mechanical simplicity. While the Prado often commands a higher price for similar mileage, the Pajero offers a more sophisticated Super Select II 4WD system that allows for high-range 4WD driving on paved roads—a major advantage during the UAE's occasional rain or on gravel tracks. Its shorter wheelbase compared to the Pathfinder also gives it a tighter turning circle and better approach angles for weekend desert excursions.

Running Costs & Resale

The 3.8L V6 is a robust workhorse designed for longevity, typically requiring service every 10,000 km at Mitsubishi’s extensive network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. Real-world fuel consumption averages around 13.5 L/100km on long highway stretches, though this can rise to 18 L/100km in heavy Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Resale value for the 3.8L GCC-spec Pajero remains among the most stable in the region, with depreciation significantly lower than European luxury rivals due to the high demand for spare parts and ease of maintenance.

Performance & Capability

The 3.8L MIVEC engine delivers 243 hp and 327 Nm of torque, providing a smooth and predictable power delivery that is ideal for navigating soft sand or towing up to 3,000 kg. The Super Select II 4WD system is the vehicle's centerpiece, offering four distinct modes including a locked 4WD high-range and a low-range crawler gear for steep dunes. With 235 mm of ground clearance and a 700 mm wading depth, it is mechanically prepared for the toughest terrain the GCC has to offer.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for the GCC climate, featuring a high-output dual-zone climate control system with dedicated vents for all three rows to ensure rapid cooling after being parked in the sun. The 7-seat configuration is highly versatile, with a third row that can be folded completely flat or removed to expand the cargo area for long road trips. Acoustic glass and thick insulation help keep the interior quiet during high-speed highway cruises between emirates.

Safety

This trim is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags (front, side, and curtain) and Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), which is particularly effective on slippery or sandy surfaces. The inclusion of a rear-view camera and parking sensors makes navigating tight city parking spaces easier, while the high-intensity Xenon headlights with washers provide excellent visibility during night drives through unlit desert roads.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer who wants a bulletproof 7-seater with genuine desert capability and a premium audio experience, this 3.8L Signature Edition is the most complete package in the pre-owned Pajero market today.
