Summary

This GCC-spec sedan offers a rare balance of rally-bred performance and daily practicality, making it a standout choice in a market dominated by standard commuters. With average annual mileage for its age, this vehicle has been driven appropriately for the UAE's highway-centric lifestyle, ensuring the mechanical components have stayed active without excessive wear. The classic white exterior is the most sought-after color for resale in the region, providing excellent heat reflection and long-term value retention. As a 2020 model, it features the refined FA20 direct-injection engine that delivers punchy acceleration while remaining surprisingly manageable for city traffic. For a GCC buyer, the combination of Subaru’s legendary Symmetrical AWD and local regional specs ensures reliable cooling and traction across everything from rainy winter mornings to scorched summer highways.

This Car vs Other 2020 Wrxs

At 74,000 km, this vehicle sits comfortably within the average mileage range for a four-year-old car in the UAE, where long-distance commutes are standard. The white exterior is a strategic choice for the GCC, consistently commanding higher demand and faster turnaround times on the used market compared to brighter performance colors. Choosing a GCC-spec model over common American imports ensures you have the correct cooling system and radiator capacity designed for 45°C+ summer peaks.

STANDARD vs Lower Trims

The Standard trim provides the pure enthusiast experience with the essential performance hardware, including the 2.0L turbocharged Boxer engine and Symmetrical AWD, without the added weight of a sunroof. It retains the functional D-shaped leather-wrapped steering wheel and sport-bolstered seats that GCC drivers value for control and comfort during spirited drives. Unlike basic entry-level sedans in this class, it comes standard with Active Torque Vectoring to enhance cornering precision on fast-moving highway interchanges.

Wrx vs Segment Rivals

While rivals like the Honda Civic Si or Volkswagen Golf GTI offer front-wheel drive, the WRX leads the segment with its permanent Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, providing superior stability during the UAE's occasional heavy sandstorms and rain. Its 60-litre fuel tank is well-sized for the long stretches between major cities, offering a cruising range that competes well with European sport sedans. The Boxer engine's low center of gravity provides a distinct handling advantage on winding roads that competitors with traditional inline engines cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption typically averages around 9.2L/100km, which is competitive for a performance-oriented All-Wheel Drive sedan in GCC highway conditions. Maintenance is straightforward with authorized service centers well-established across the UAE and Oman, typically requiring intervals every 10,000 km or 6 months to keep the turbocharger in peak condition. The WRX enjoys a loyal following in the region, leading to stronger value retention than many European rivals, typically losing only 10-15% annually after the initial depreciation curve.

Performance & Capability

The 268 hp output allows for a verified 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.0 seconds, offering effortless overtaking power on the E11 and E311 highways. The Sport Lineartronic CVT features manual shift modes and paddle shifters, giving you immediate control over the 350 Nm of torque when needed. Three distinct SI-DRIVE modes allow the driver to toggle between fuel-efficient commuting and sharp, responsive performance for weekend drives.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for five occupants with sport seats that provide excellent lateral support without sacrificing the comfort needed for the Dubai-Abu Dhabi run. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the region, featuring powerful blowers and intuitive climate controls to combat high humidity and heat. Standard tech includes a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, ensuring you stay connected and navigated through changing city layouts.

Safety

Subaru's safety suite includes seven airbags and a reinforced ring-shaped boundary frame designed to protect the cabin in high-speed impacts. Standard Active Torque Vectoring and Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control act as a safety net, providing critical stability on slippery or gravel-strewn surfaces. The inclusion of a high-resolution rearview camera and powerful LED lighting ensures maximum visibility during dusty desert nights or poorly lit secondary roads.

The bottom line

This WRX is the ideal opportunity for an enthusiast who needs a reliable daily driver that doesn't compromise on mechanical soul. Its GCC status and popular color profile make it a low-risk entry into the performance car world with a clear path for future resale.
