Summary

This 2021 BMW X5 xDrive40i M Sport is a prime example of the segment-leading G05 generation, balancing executive refinement with genuine performance. With 60,977 km, it has been driven significantly less than the 75,000+ km typical for its age in the GCC, offering a mechanical head-start for the next owner. The Silver exterior is one of the most practical and high-resale choices for the region, staying cooler under the sun and hiding dust far better than darker hues. This specific trim enhances the X5's road presence with the M Sport aerodynamic kit and upgraded interior materials that elevate it above standard models. For a GCC buyer, the combination of low mileage, a heat-reflective color, and BMW’s intelligent xDrive system makes this a highly secure investment.

This Car vs Other 2021 X5s

At 60,977 km, this X5 sits well below the GCC average of 20,000–25,000 km per year, representing roughly two-thirds of the expected wear for a vehicle of this age. The Silver paint is a strategic advantage in the local market, consistently fetching higher resale prices and offering better thermal management during the peak summer months. It presents a cleaner ownership profile compared to higher-mileage examples often found in the secondary market.

xDrive40i M Sport vs Lower Trims

The M Sport package is a significant upgrade over the standard xDrive40i, replacing the 19-inch wheels with 20-inch M light alloys and adding a more aggressive front and rear apron. Inside, you receive the M Sport steering wheel and sport seats, which provide noticeably better lateral support during highway drives. It also features the shadow-line exterior trim, replacing chrome with high-gloss black for a more modern, cohesive aesthetic preferred by UAE buyers.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The X5 leads rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 in driving dynamics, largely due to the B58 inline-six engine which is widely considered the most reliable and smooth powertrain in its class. While competitors focus on soft suspension, the X5’s M Sport-tuned chassis offers better stability during high-speed cross-emirate commutes. Its iDrive 7.0 system remains faster and more intuitive than the touch-heavy interfaces found in many recent segment competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the xDrive40i averages approximately 9.5L/100km on long GCC highway runs, though this increases in stop-start city traffic. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from the full support of BMW's extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, which is a vital factor for long-term value. The X5 holds its value better than most European rivals in the region, typically seeing 12-15% annual depreciation compared to higher rates for some Italian or British luxury SUVs.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 3.0-litre engine delivers a robust 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque, ensuring effortless overtaking on the E11 even when fully loaded. The 0–100 km/h sprint is achieved in just 5.5 seconds, placing it firmly in the performance SUV category. BMW's xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system provides excellent traction on sand-blown tarmac and gravel tracks, though the M Sport suspension is primarily optimized for precision on paved roads.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for long-distance GCC road trips, featuring BMW's Live Cockpit Professional with dual 12.3-inch displays as standard. The multi-zone climate control is specifically engineered to handle 45°C+ temperatures, ensuring rapid cabin cooling for all passengers. With 650 litres of boot space, it easily accommodates family luggage or golf sets, while the split-tailgate design remains a unique and highly practical feature for loading.

Safety

This X5 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Frontal Collision Warning, Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Departure Warning, which are essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic. The 360-degree camera system and Parking Assistant Plus make maneuvering this large SUV in tight city malls effortless. Additionally, the intelligent xDrive system constantly monitors traction to prevent instability during sudden lane changes or on slippery surfaces.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a professional or family looking for a low-mileage, GCC-spec European SUV that balances sportiness with high resale security in a heat-friendly color.
