Summary

This 2021 Mercedes-AMG A45 S is a high-performance standout, offering world-class engineering in a practical hatchback frame. With the most powerful production four-cylinder engine ever built, it bridges the gap between daily versatility and supercar speed. This specific Grey example offers a refined and stealthy look that holds strong resale appeal across the UAE and wider GCC. Despite its Korean regional specification, the vehicle’s mechanical pedigree and advanced all-wheel-drive system make it a reliable and exhilarating choice for local enthusiasts. For a buyer looking to dominate the highway while maintaining city-friendly dimensions, this A45 S represents a peak hot-hatch opportunity.

This Car vs Other 2021 A45s

With just over 80,000 km, this A45 S sits within the typical mileage range for high-performance daily drivers in the GCC, where 20,000–25,000 km annually is standard. The Grey exterior is a highly desirable shade in the local market, offering a more premium and understated aesthetic than brighter alternatives while managing heat efficiently. It provides a significant value advantage for buyers who prioritize mechanical capability and year-model freshness over a lower-mileage but older vehicle.

AMG- S vs Lower Trims

The AMG- S trim is a major leap over the standard A45, boosting power from 387 hp to a blistering 421 hp and adding the AMG Driver's Package as standard. It features larger 6-piston front brakes, 'Drift Mode' for the 4MATIC+ system, and the AMG Performance steering wheel with integrated drive-mode dials. Inside, the S model is distinguished by premium upholstery and the full 10.25-inch MBUX digital cockpit, features that GCC buyers prioritize for a high-tech cabin experience.

A45 vs Segment Rivals

The A45 S leads rivals like the Audi RS3 and BMW M2 in raw power density, offering more horsepower from its 2.0L unit than many competitors do with larger engines. Its 370-litre boot space provides superior daily practicality compared to two-door sports rivals, making it a more versatile option for the GCC lifestyle. The advanced 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system ensures the car remains planted on hot asphalt, providing better traction during high-speed highway overtaking than rear-wheel-drive competitors.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages approximately 8.9 L/100km, though this varies between 7.3 L/100km on highways and 11.7 L/100km in heavy GCC city traffic. Mercedes-Benz maintains an extensive authorized service network across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring parts and expert technicians are readily available. While European performance cars typically depreciate faster than Japanese equivalents, the A45 S holds its value remarkably well in the GCC due to its 'super-hatch' status and high demand among enthusiast collectors.

Performance & Capability

Performance is defined by the M139 engine, which delivers a staggering 421 hp and 500 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds. The 8-speed AMG Speedshift dual-clutch transmission provides lightning-fast shifts, perfect for the smooth, high-speed highway stretches of the UAE. Selectable drive modes allow the car to transform from a quiet city commuter to a track-ready weapon, featuring a top speed electronically limited to 270 km/h.

Comfort & Cabin

The five-seat cabin is designed for high-speed comfort, featuring heavily bolstered AMG performance seats that remain supportive during long drives across the Emirates. Powerful dual-zone climate control and rear cooling vents are essential for the GCC summer, ensuring all passengers remain comfortable in extreme heat. The interior is a tech showcase, featuring 64-color ambient lighting and a premium 10-speaker audio system that provides an immersive environment for daily commutes.

Safety

Standard safety features on this trim include a 360° camera and active parking assist, which are invaluable for navigating tight urban parking in Dubai or Riyadh. The A45 S is equipped with advanced ADAS systems, including blind-spot monitoring and active lane-keeping assist, providing a safety net for fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic. Multiple airbags and high-performance cross-drilled brakes ensure maximum protection and stopping power in all driving conditions.

The bottom line

This A45 S is the perfect choice for the GCC driver who demands supercar performance without sacrificing the everyday utility of a five-door hatchback. It offers a rare blend of mechanical aggression and modern luxury that makes every drive through the city or across the desert highways a true event.
