Summary

This 2021 G63 AMG stands out as the ultimate expression of the G-Class, combining military-grade hardware with the highly desirable G-Manufaktur Exclusive Plus interior. While many G-Wagons are kept for city status, this model’s triple-locking differentials and body-on-frame build make it one of the few luxury SUVs genuinely capable of traversing the region’s dunes. Its grey exterior is a perennial favorite in the GCC, ensuring strong resale demand and excellent heat management during peak summer months. For the buyer who wants no-compromise performance and the highest level of Mercedes-Benz cabin refinement, this G63 remains the benchmark for the performance SUV segment.

This Car vs Other 2021 G63 AMGs

With 90,000 km, this G63 has been driven more than the typical low-mileage weekend toy, but this reflects the high-frequency highway use common for primary vehicles in the GCC. The grey exterior is a strategic choice for the local market, offering much better value retention and cooling efficiency than darker tones. In a market where many G63s are base-spec imports, the inclusion of the Exclusive Plus package significantly elevates this specific vehicle's standing.

MANUFAKTUR EXCLUSIVE PLUS vs Lower Trims

The Manufaktur Exclusive Plus trim is a substantial step above the standard G63, adding diamond-stitched Nappa leather that extends to the dashboard and door panels. It includes the Active Multi-contour Seat package, providing GCC drivers with essential ventilated and massaging front seats to combat the summer heat. You also get the premium 15-speaker Burmester surround-sound system and a Dinamica microfibre headliner, features that are often optional or absent on lower-tier trims.

G63 AMG vs Segment Rivals

The G63 AMG holds a unique position against rivals like the Lamborghini Urus and Range Rover SVR by offering a traditional ladder-frame chassis and three independent locking differentials. While the Urus leads on track dynamics, the G63 offers a much more commanding driving position and significantly better approach angles for weekend desert excursions. Its 100-litre fuel tank also provides a superior cruising range for long-distance drives between Emirates compared to many performance-focused crossovers.

Running Costs & Resale

The G63 typically consumes between 17L and 20L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions, requiring 98-octane Super petrol to maintain the health of its twin-turbo V8. As an American spec vehicle, it is important to verify service history, though Mercedes-Benz parts and specialist technicians are widely available across the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The G63 remains one of the slowest-depreciating luxury SUVs in the GCC, often retaining over 75% of its value after three years due to its iconic status and high local demand.

Performance & Capability

Powered by a handcrafted 4.0L V8 biturbo engine, the G63 delivers 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 220 km/h. It features a sophisticated AWD system with a 40:60 rear-biased torque split, paired with AMG Ride Control adaptive damping for stable high-speed highway cruising. For off-road use, it provides 241 mm of ground clearance and a 700 mm wading depth, making it as capable in deep sand as it is on the asphalt.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a masterclass in ergonomics, featuring twin 12.3-inch widescreen displays that house the MBUX infotainment and digital cluster. The Manufaktur Exclusive Plus package ensures every touchpoint is covered in premium leather, while the tri-zone climate control system is specifically engineered to maintain rapid cooling in temperatures exceeding 45°C. Ample headroom and an upright seating position provide all five passengers with a sense of space and visibility unmatched in the SUV segment.

Safety

This G63 is equipped with a comprehensive suite of ADAS features, including Distronic adaptive cruise control and Active Lane Keeping Assist, which are invaluable for long highway stretches. It also features a 360° surround-view camera system to assist in parking its boxy frame and Blind Spot Assist to navigate fast-moving multi-lane traffic. Standard safety equipment includes ten airbags and Pre-Safe collision preparation technology.

The bottom line

This G63 AMG is the ideal choice for a GCC buyer who values the prestige of the Manufaktur trim and requires a performance icon that is mechanically ready for daily highway use.
