Toyota Fortuner EXR 89000KM-GCC SPECS-EXCELLENT CONDITION

Highlights

• 225 mm maximum ground clearance
• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2021 Fortuner EXR represents one of the most practical and secure buys for GCC families, combining low ownership costs with Toyota’s legendary regional durability. In a market where white is the strongest resale color, this GCC-spec example holds its value significantly better than European or American rivals. The 2.7L powertrain is perfectly tuned for city commuting in Dubai or Riyadh while offering genuine four-wheel-drive capability for desert weekends. With mileage below the 100,000 km mark, it offers years of reliable service backed by the region's largest parts network. It is the definitive smart-money choice for those who prioritize mechanical peace of mind over complex electronics.

This Car vs Other 2021 Fortuners

With 89,000 km, this vehicle sits comfortably within the average range for a three-year-old SUV in the GCC, where annual mileage typically hits 25,000 km due to highway commuting. The white exterior is a major advantage for local resale, as it is the most requested color in the used market. Its GCC-specific cooling systems and radiator ensure it remains resilient during peak summer temperatures compared to imported models.

EXR vs Lower Trims

As the foundational EXR trim, this model focuses on essential durability and utility. It provides 17-inch alloy wheels and the necessary 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity that often lacks in base commercial variants. While higher GXR or VXR trims add leather and V6 power, the EXR is preferred by pragmatic buyers for its lower fuel consumption and simpler, more affordable maintenance schedule.

Fortuner vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Mitsubishi Montero Sport or Nissan X-Terra, the Fortuner offers a more robust body-on-frame chassis derived from the Hilux, giving it a clear edge in off-road durability. Its 80-litre fuel tank provides superior range for long-distance travel between emirates or across borders. While rivals may offer more soft-touch plastics, the Toyota leads in structural longevity and authorized service center availability across the entire GCC.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.7L petrol engine is compatible with 95-octane fuel and returns a combined fuel economy of approximately 10.4 km/L, making it more efficient for city stop-start traffic than the 4.0L V6. Maintenance is straightforward with 10,000 km service intervals, and parts are available in almost every major city from Muscat to Kuwait City. Historically, the Fortuner retains roughly 65-70% of its value after three years, outperforming the segment average by a wide margin.

Performance & Capability

With 225 mm of ground clearance, this SUV is designed to clear high dunes and rocky wadi paths that would stop a standard crossover. The selectable four-wheel-drive system includes a low-range transfer case, providing essential torque for deep sand recovery during desert excursions. On the highway, the 6-speed automatic transmission ensures a smooth cruise, comfortably handling long-distance drives at 120 km/h.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin features a flexible 7-seat layout with a focus on family utility and easy-to-clean materials. A high-output air conditioning system with dedicated rear vents ensures all three rows stay cool during the 45°C summer months. The third row can be folded to the side to expand the cargo area, making it ideal for weekend camping trips or large grocery runs.

Safety

Safety is managed through a comprehensive suite of active systems including ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) which is vital on loose sand or gravel. Dual front airbags and ISOFIX child seat anchors are standard, providing peace of mind for family transport. The high seating position also provides excellent visibility, which is a major safety benefit in fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic.

The bottom line

Perfect for the budget-conscious GCC family who needs a reliable daily driver that can transition seamlessly into a weekend desert explorer. This GCC-spec Fortuner is a high-liquidity asset that promises low running costs and a stress-free ownership experience.
