Highlights

• Extensive GCC authorised service network
• Body-on-frame construction
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 5-year-old Hiace GL represents a significant buying opportunity for GCC businesses, with a mileage that is exceptionally low for a commercial van of this age. Finished in white, it maintains the most sought-after color for local resale value, while the GL trim provides a noticeably cleaner exterior aesthetic than the basic work versions. The Hiace remains the definitive benchmark for reliability in the region, offering a level of durability that rivals struggle to match over high-kilometer lifecycles. For a buyer in the UAE, the main consideration is its mechanical readiness to serve for another decade with minimal downtime.

This Car vs Other 2021 Hiaces

With only 37,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has covered significantly less ground than the 100,000–125,000 km typically expected for a five-year-old commercial van in the GCC. The white exterior is the primary color choice for fleet buyers and independent operators alike, ensuring it will attract the highest number of potential buyers when it comes time to trade. This combination of low usage and high-resale color makes it a standout listing in a market often dominated by high-mileage examples.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim upgrades the Hiace from a purely utilitarian tool to a more presentable professional vehicle, adding body-colored bumpers and chrome grille accents that are absent on the standard DX models. Inside, the GL package typically includes higher-quality fabric upholstery and improved cabin insulation, which is a vital differentiator during long summer shifts. It also features a more advanced dashboard cluster, providing the driver with better feedback and a more car-like environment during long-haul routes.

Hiace vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Nissan Urvan and Hyundai H1, the Hiace leads with its legendary body-on-frame durability and a 2.7L engine known for handling the extreme heat of the Arabian Peninsula without complaint. While rivals may offer slightly different seating configurations, the Hiace holds a distinct advantage in parts availability, with components found in almost every corner of the GCC. This logistics-first engineering makes it the preferred choice for businesses where uptime is the most critical metric.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.7L petrol unit typically sits between 10L and 12L/100km depending on cargo load, a respectable figure for a large van in stop-start traffic. Toyota’s authorized service network is the most comprehensive in the region, spanning across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, ensuring support is never far away. This model experiences some of the lowest depreciation rates in the commercial segment, often retaining over 65% of its value even after three years of heavy use.

Performance & Capability

The 164 hp petrol engine is tuned for low-end torque, essential for moving heavy payloads through city traffic or up highway inclines. The manual transmission offers the driver total control over power delivery, which is particularly useful when the van is fully loaded to its significant payload capacity. Rear-wheel drive ensures better traction and stability when the rear cargo area is occupied, providing a balanced and predictable driving experience across long desert stretches.

Comfort & Cabin

The three-seat front cabin layout is designed for maximum utility, offering ample storage for documents and tools alongside a powerful air conditioning system built specifically for the GCC climate. Unlike many global variants, the regional Hiace features high-output cooling vents that can rapidly lower cabin temperatures even when exterior heat exceeds 45°C. The elevated driving position and large wing mirrors provide excellent visibility for navigating tight loading docks and busy multi-lane highways.

Safety

This Hiace comes equipped with essential safety systems for professional use, including Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and dual front airbags. The robust frame provides a strong safety cell, while the inclusion of stability control helps manage the vehicle's footprint during emergency maneuvers. These standard features ensure the van meets the safety requirements for major corporate and government contracts across the UAE.

The bottom line

Perfect for a growing UAE business or logistics provider, this low-mileage Hiace GL offers the reliability of a new vehicle with the proven value of a GCC-spec Toyota.
