Summary

This 2022 BMW X5 40i M Sport Exclusive is a prime example of the segment-leading G05 generation, finished in a high-demand Blue that maintains strong secondary market appeal in the UAE. With the M Sport Exclusive package, you're getting a significantly higher equipment level than base models, featuring the adaptive suspension and styling upgrades that GCC buyers prioritize. The mileage is slightly above the typical annual average for the region, yet it reflects consistent highway use, which is often preferable to the heat-soak of short city commutes in Dubai traffic. As a GCC-spec vehicle, it benefits from the regional cooling upgrades and local service history essential for long-term reliability. This model strikes the ideal balance between the efficiency of the inline-six and the premium cabin tech required for cross-emirate travel.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

While 81,000 km is slightly above the GCC annual average for a three-year-old vehicle, it indicates a car that has been regularly driven on open highways rather than sitting in extreme heat. The Blue exterior is a refreshing and strong resale choice compared to more common white or silver units, helping it stand out in the pre-owned market. This specific Exclusive trim includes high-value options that are often missing from standard xDrive40i listings.

40i M SPORT EXCLUSIVE vs Lower Trims

The M Sport Exclusive trim adds significant value over the base xDrive40i, including the M Aerodynamics package, M Sport brakes, and the high-gloss Shadowline trim. Inside, it upgrades to a more refined leather upholstery and features the high-quality 12.3-inch Live Cockpit Professional display as standard. Crucially for the GCC, this trim often includes the upgraded climate control and comfort seat functions that lower trims lack.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The BMW X5 leads competitors like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 in driving dynamics and infotainment responsiveness. Its 83-litre fuel tank provides a superior range for long-distance drives between Dubai and Muscat or Riyadh. The inline-six engine is widely regarded as more refined and durable than the four-cylinder turbo units found in entry-level European rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0-litre 40i engine averages approximately 9.5 to 10.5 L/100km combined, making it efficient for its size during GCC highway cruising. BMW maintains a vast authorized service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts are readily available. The X5 typically experiences a depreciation rate of 12-15% annually in the local market, though the GCC-spec status helps it retain value better than imported American or European units.

Performance & Capability

The turbocharged 3.0-litre engine delivers a verified 335 hp, providing effortless highway overtaking and a top speed of 243 km/h. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system and M Sport adaptive suspension ensure composed handling on winding mountain roads in Fujairah or during sudden sand-blown conditions on the E11. With a braked towing capacity of 3,270 kg, it is also highly capable of hauling watercraft for weekend trips.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is engineered for the GCC summer, featuring a high-performance multi-zone air conditioning system and well-insulated glass to reject solar heat. The 5-seat layout provides class-leading shoulder room, while the 650-litre boot easily expands for family road trips. High-end materials and acoustic damping keep the interior exceptionally quiet during high-speed travel across the desert.

Safety

This X5 comes standard with a comprehensive safety suite, including Frontal Collision Warning, Active Blind Spot Detection, and Lane Departure Warning, which are vital for fast-moving multi-lane highway traffic. The vehicle holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, supported by a robust airbag system and stability controls optimized for both paved roads and gravel surfaces.

The bottom line

This GCC-spec M Sport Exclusive is the perfect choice for the executive family buyer who needs a refined, high-performance SUV that is fully prepared for the local climate and service requirements.
