Summary

This 2022 BMW X5 xDrive40i Exclusive M Sport offers a highly desirable combination of performance and premium spec that consistently leads the luxury SUV segment in the UAE. With the M Sport package, it balances aggressive styling with the daily practicality required for GCC life. The mileage is appropriate for a 4-year-old vehicle in this region, where highway-heavy commutes between emirates are common. Finished in black, it occupies the top tier for resale strength in the local market. For a buyer seeking the 'Ultimate Driving Machine' without the extreme running costs of a V8, this inline-six configuration remains the smartest pick.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

At 94,530 km, this X5 has been driven roughly 23,600 km per year, which aligns perfectly with the average GCC annual usage of 20,000–25,000 km. While many American spec imports arrive with high-mileage histories, this unit's mechanical condition and clean black exterior make it a highly competitive option for local resale. Choosing a 4-year-old xDrive40i allows you to avoid the steepest initial depreciation while still enjoying current-generation BMW technology.

XDRIVE40i EXCLUSIVE M SPORT PACKAGE vs Lower Trims

The Exclusive M Sport package is a significant step up from the base xDrive40i, adding the aggressive M aerodynamic body kit, larger M-specific wheels, and an M Sport steering wheel. Inside, you benefit from upgraded Vernasca leather upholstery and ventilated front seats, a feature that transitions from a luxury to a necessity during the intense GCC summer. It also includes the premium Harman Kardon surround sound system and 360-degree cameras, which are often expensive standalone options on lower trims.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The BMW X5 is frequently cross-shopped with the Mercedes-Benz GLE and the Porsche Cayenne. While the GLE focuses on soft-road comfort, the X5 leads in driver engagement and infotainment responsiveness via the iDrive 7.0 system. Its 83-litre fuel tank provides a superior highway range, making it better suited for long-distance drives across the GCC borders compared to some smaller-tanked rivals.

Running Costs & Resale

The xDrive40i averages approximately 9.3 L/100km on the highway, though GCC stop-start city traffic will see this increase. As an American spec vehicle, buyers should ensure any software or navigation updates are localized for UAE maps, though mechanical parts for the B58 engine are widely available across the GCC. While German luxury SUVs depreciate faster than Japanese alternatives, the X5 remains the most liquid asset in its class, retaining roughly 50% of its value at the 5-year mark.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L turbocharged inline-six delivers a verified 0-100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on the E11 highway. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum traction on sandy or rain-slicked surfaces, while the M Sport tuned suspension keeps the vehicle composed through corners. With a braked towing capacity of up to 3,270 kg, it is more than capable of hauling jet skis or weekend camping trailers.

Comfort & Cabin

The 5-seat cabin is designed for long-distance refinement, featuring four-zone automatic climate control to keep all passengers cool in 45°C heat. The Live Cockpit Professional features dual 12.3-inch displays that remain clear even in direct desert sunlight. Acoustic glazing and high-quality insulation ensure the cabin remains a quiet sanctuary from external wind and road noise during high-speed cruising.

Safety

Standard safety tech on this trim includes the Active Driving Assistant, which provides Blind Spot Detection and Lane Departure Warning, both essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. The 360-degree Surround View camera system makes parking this large SUV effortless in tight urban spaces. It is further equipped with a full suite of frontal, side, and knee airbags, maintaining BMW's reputation for high-level passenger protection.

The bottom line

This M Sport X5 is the ideal choice for a professional or family looking for a prestigious, high-performance SUV that is already localized for the GCC's demanding driving conditions.
