Summary

This GCC-spec xDrive40i offers a significant value advantage, sitting at an ideal 4-year age for luxury SUV buyers. Finished in Grey, a color known for maintaining high resale appeal in the UAE, it has been driven approximately 26,500 km per year, which is average for the long-distance highway usage typical in the region. The Exclusive M Sport Package elevates it with a more aggressive aesthetic and sharper handling compared to standard trims. As one of BMW's most popular models in the Middle East, it remains a top choice for those needing executive presence paired with all-weather capability. Ownership is supported by a comprehensive service network across the UAE and neighboring GCC territories.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

With 106,000 km, this vehicle reflects standard regional usage patterns where long commutes between Emirates are common. The GCC regional spec ensures that its cooling and filtration systems are specifically designed to handle the high-temperature environment of the Gulf. The Grey exterior is a highly liquid color in the local used market, ensuring faster resale and better value retention than more niche shades.

XDRIVE40i EXCLUSIVE M SPORT PACKAGE vs Lower Trims

The Exclusive M Sport Package adds high-value features that GCC buyers prioritize, including the M Aerodynamics kit, M Sport brakes, and larger 20-inch or 21-inch wheels. Inside, this trim typically upgrades from standard seating to ventilated front seats and includes the premium Harman Kardon audio system. It also features a Head-up display and a 360-degree camera, systems that are often optional on base xDrive40i models.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The X5 leads rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 with its balance of driver engagement and refined tech. Its 83-liter fuel tank is specifically beneficial for long desert highway runs, providing a longer range between stops than some smaller-capacity competitors. BMW's iDrive system remains the benchmark for ease of use in heavy city traffic compared to the more complex interfaces found in the Porsche Cayenne.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 3.0L inline-six averages approximately 10.4 L/100km combined, though GCC city traffic may see figures closer to 12.5 L/100km. Service intervals are managed by BMW’s Condition Based Service (CBS) system, typically triggering every 10,000 to 12,000 km at authorized centers across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman. The xDrive40i trim is recognized as the depreciation 'sweet spot' in the GCC, retaining more value than the V8 or hybrid variants.

Performance & Capability

The 340 hp 6-cylinder engine provides effortless power, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.5 seconds and a manufacturer-rated top speed of 243 km/h. Its xDrive all-wheel-drive system is calibrated for stability on sand-swept highways and gravel surfaces, while the M Sport adaptive suspension allows for a firmer, sportier ride at high speeds. With a 3,270 kg braked towing capacity, it is one of the most capable luxury haulers in its class.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is a sanctuary from the heat, featuring powerful four-zone climate control and acoustic glass to keep the interior quiet and cool. The 12.3-inch digital cockpit provides clear navigation data directly in the driver's line of sight, which is essential for navigating fast-moving multi-lane roads. Premium leather upholstery and standard ambient lighting create an executive atmosphere suitable for both family duties and professional use.

Safety

Safety is paramount with a full ADAS suite including Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, and Blind Spot Detection, which is vital for safe overtaking on GCC highways. The standard 360-degree camera system makes parking this large SUV in tight city spaces simple. It also features a comprehensive airbag system and ISOFIX points, making it a highly secure environment for families.

The bottom line

For the GCC buyer seeking a prestigious, high-spec SUV that has already crossed the steepest part of its depreciation curve, this Exclusive M Sport X5 is an excellent choice. It offers the perfect mix of performance and regional suitability for a savvy used-market purchase.
