Summary

This 2022 BMW X5 M50i offers a perfect balance of low mileage and high-performance engineering, making it a compelling alternative to a brand-new SUV. As a performance-oriented V8 model, it commands a premium in the GCC market where high-output luxury cruisers are highly sought after for long highway drives. The Mineral White exterior is a top-tier resale choice in the region, effectively managing heat and maintaining value far better than darker shades. For the buyer who wants the aggressive M Sport styling and immense power without the track-stiff suspension of a full X5 M, this M50i represents a smarter, more comfortable daily choice. With BMW’s extensive service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, maintaining this Bavarian powerhouse is straightforward and reliable.

This Car vs Other 2022 X5s

With just over 37,000 km, this X5 has been driven significantly less than the typical 50,000–60,000 km average for its age in the GCC. While many 2022 models in the market are the six-cylinder xDrive40i, this V8 M50i offers a distinct level of mechanical prestige and performance. The Korean regional spec typically features high equipment levels similar to European delivery, though buyers should verify local BMW service center compatibility for the GCC region.

xDrive M50i vs Lower Trims

The M50i trim transforms the X5 by replacing the standard inline-six with a 4.4-litre V8 and adding the M Sport differential, which provides far superior traction during aggressive highway maneuvers. Inside, this trim upgrades the experience with standard Vernasca leather and an M Sport steering wheel, features that often cost extra on the 40i. It also includes the quad-exhaust system and larger M Sport brakes, providing both the sound and stopping power appropriate for its 500+ horsepower output.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The BMW X5 M50i leads rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 and Audi Q7 in driver engagement and acceleration, offering a more sports-car-like feel behind the wheel. Its split-tailgate design is a unique practical advantage in this segment, providing a convenient loading bench or seating platform for weekend outings. BMW's iDrive system remains the most intuitive interface in the class, a major plus for navigating busy GCC city traffic.

Running Costs & Resale

The 4.4L V8 is a performance engine that typically sees fuel consumption around 14.4 L/100km in the city, though highway cruising at GCC speeds is more efficient. BMW service intervals in the UAE are generally every 10,000 km or one year, with authorized service centers widely available across major cities like Dubai, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi. While luxury SUVs experience higher initial depreciation, the M50i trim holds its value better than base models due to its desirability among performance enthusiasts.

Performance & Capability

Generating 523 hp and a massive 750 Nm of torque, this X5 achieves 0-100 km/h in a verified 4.3 seconds, providing effortless overtaking power on fast-moving highways like E11. The intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive system ensures maximum grip on gravel or rain-slicked roads, while the adaptive M suspension allows you to toggle between firm sportiness and soft highway comfort. The standard 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission provides lightning-fast shifts that make the most of the V8's broad power band.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for premium comfort in the GCC climate, featuring multi-zone automatic climate control to ensure all passengers stay cool during peak summer heat. Acoustic glazing and high-grade insulation keep the interior whisper-quiet, even at highway speeds, while the 12.3-inch digital cockpit provides clear visibility of navigation and vehicle data. The split-folding rear seats and 650-litre boot space ensure there is ample room for family luggage or golf sets.

Safety

This X5 comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite including Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Blind Spot Monitoring, which are vital for safety on multi-lane GCC highways. The standard 360-degree camera system and Active Park Distance Control make maneuvering this large SUV into tight mall parking spaces effortless. Additionally, BMW's stability control systems are specifically tuned to manage the high torque of the V8 engine, keeping the vehicle composed in all conditions.

The bottom line

This low-mileage M50i is the ideal choice for a GCC driver who demands V8 performance and M Sport prestige without sacrificing the daily comfort required for UAE city life.
