Summary

This 2024 BMW X5 xDrive40i xLine represents a sharp opportunity to own the updated LCI generation, featuring the latest BMW Curved Display and iDrive 8.5. With 78,000 km, this mileage is higher than the typical GCC average for a first-year vehicle, but it reflects consistent highway use which is common for executive crossovers in this region. The Grey exterior is a high-demand, stable resale choice that holds its value well across the Emirates. For a GCC buyer, this model offers a perfect balance of mid-size luxury and modern tech that outpaces many rivals in cabin refinement. As an American spec vehicle, it offers significant upfront savings compared to GCC-spec listings of the same year.

This Car vs Other 2024 X5s

At 78,000 km, this vehicle has been driven more than the typical 20,000–25,000 km annual average seen in the GCC market. However, this is factored into the competitive pricing, offering a newer generation body style and interior at a point often reserved for older models. The Grey paint is a premium, low-maintenance color highly favored for its strong resale demand in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

xDrive40i xLine vs Lower Trims

The xDrive40i xLine adds BMW's intelligent all-wheel-drive system as standard, a critical upgrade over the base sDrive40i for better stability on rain-slicked tarmac and gravel tracks. This trim also includes the xLine exterior styling package with satin aluminum accents and unique 20-inch wheels, providing a more rugged and premium presence than the entry-level configurations.

X5 vs Segment Rivals

The X5 leads the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7 in infotainment ergonomics thanks to the massive 14.9-inch curved glass interface and faster processor. Its 83-liter fuel tank is purpose-built for long-distance cruising, offering greater highway range for cross-border trips compared to smaller-capacity competitors. The B58 inline-six engine is widely regarded as the most reliable and smooth powertrain in this segment.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption averages roughly 9.4 L/100km, though expect higher figures in GCC stop-start city traffic. As an American spec vehicle, buyers should note that while mechanical parts are widely available at authorized BMW centers across the UAE and KSA, factory warranty coverage may differ from GCC-spec cars. BMWs typically see a depreciation of 12–15% annually in the local market, with American specs often trading at a discount that benefits the second owner at purchase.

Performance & Capability

The 3.0L TwinPower Turbo engine delivers a verified 0–100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds, ensuring effortless overtaking on fast-moving highways like Sheikh Zayed Road. The xDrive system provides confidence during sudden rain or on loose surfaces common during weekend trips to the Northern Emirates. It maintains a 3,265 kg braked towing capacity, making it one of the more capable luxury towers in its class.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior features the new BMW Curved Display which integrates the 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 14.9-inch central screen for a tech-forward feel. The dual-zone climate control is highly effective against the GCC summer heat, supported by standard heated front seats and premium Sensafin upholstery that stays cooler than traditional leather. Quiet cabin insulation ensures a refined experience even at high highway speeds.

Safety

Standard safety equipment includes the Active Driving Assistant suite, featuring Frontal Collision Warning and Active Blind Spot Detection which are essential for navigating multi-lane GCC highways. Lane Departure Warning and a comprehensive airbag system come standard, providing top-tier protection for family use. The standard parking sensors and rearview camera assist in maneuvering this mid-size SUV into tight city parking spots.

The bottom line

For the buyer who wants the latest BMW technology and styling at a significant discount, this highway-proven X5 is the most cost-effective way to enter the current generation.
