• 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C display standard
• Sport suspension and performance brakes standard

Summary

This 2022 Charger GT presents a rare combination of the aggressive GT exterior styling paired with the 5.7L HEMI V8, a configuration that offers a perfect middle ground for GCC enthusiasts. With 85,000 km, the mileage is slightly above the regional average for its age but reflects the typical highway-centric use of muscle sedans in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. The black exterior is the most sought-after resale color in the local market, ensuring it holds its value better than brighter alternatives. As a Canadian spec model, it retains the mechanical robustness required for high-speed cruising, though buyers should note the specific software and warranty differences compared to local dealer-sourced units. It stands out as a practical four-door that refuses to sacrifice the classic American V8 soundtrack.

This Car vs Other 2022 Chargers

While many GT trims in the GCC are equipped with the V6 engine, this specific unit features the 5.7L V8 powertrain typically found in the R/T, offering a significant performance boost. The 85,000 km mileage is consistent with a car used for inter-emirate commuting, where highway miles are often less taxing on the engine than stop-start city traffic. The black-on-black color scheme is a major advantage for resale in this region, as it remains the top choice for used car buyers in the UAE.

GT vs Lower Trims

The GT trim significantly upgrades the ownership experience over the base SXT by adding the functional hood scoop, sportier front and rear fascias, and a rear spoiler that mimics the high-end Hellcat models. Inside, you get the larger 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C touchscreen rather than the basic 7-inch unit, along with premium Alpine speakers. It also features a sport-tuned suspension and performance brakes, providing much sharper handling for highway maneuvers compared to the softer setup of lower trims.

Charger vs Segment Rivals

The Charger leads the segment against rivals like the Nissan Maxima and Toyota Avalon by offering a traditional rear-wheel-drive platform and a V8 engine that competitors have entirely abandoned. Its 70-liter fuel tank is specifically suited for long-distance GCC drives, such as Dubai to Muscat or Riyadh to Dammam, providing superior range at cruising speeds. While the rivals focus on efficiency, the Charger offers a levels of cabin space and a 'muscle car' presence that they cannot match.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 5.7L HEMI averages around 9.4 L/100km on the highway, though GCC city traffic will see this rise significantly. The engine features MDS Fuel Saver technology, which deactivates four cylinders during cruising to help manage costs. Dodge has a well-established service network across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, making parts for this generation easily accessible. As a Canadian spec vehicle, it may not carry a local agency warranty, but its mechanical simplicity ensures that independent specialized garages can maintain it at a lower cost than European luxury rivals.

Performance & Capability

The 5.7L HEMI V8 delivers 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, allowing this sedan to reach 100 km/h in approximately 5.2 seconds. This power is managed by the reliable TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission, which is praised for its smooth shifts during high-speed highway overtaking. The sport-tuned suspension provides a firm, planted feel that excels on the UAE’s well-maintained arterial roads and mountain passes like Jebel Jais.

Comfort & Cabin

The interior is designed for long-distance comfort, featuring five full-sized seats and a powerful dual-zone climate control system essential for the GCC summer. The Uconnect 8.4-inch system is one of the most intuitive in the industry, featuring full Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Acoustic glass helps isolate the cabin from wind noise during fast highway cruising, while the GT-specific performance steering wheel with paddle shifters adds a tactile, sport-focused feel for the driver.

Safety

This trim comes standard with a comprehensive safety suite including a ParkView rear back-up camera and ParkSense rear park assist, which are vital for maneuvering a large sedan in tight urban parking. Active safety features include Electronic Stability Control with Hill Start Assist and Ready Alert Braking. The heavy-duty performance brakes provide significantly shorter stopping distances than the standard sedan setup, adding an extra layer of security in fast-moving highway traffic.

The bottom line

This is the ideal choice for a GCC buyer who wants the aggressive look of a GT with the authentic power of a V8, wrapped in a high-resale black finish. It offers more character and performance than any Japanese rival while remaining more affordable to maintain than a German luxury sedan.
