Jeep Wrangler SPORT

• Low-range transfer case with locking differentials
• 246 mm standard ground clearance

Summary

This 2022 Sport trim offers the ideal entry point for GCC buyers who value mechanical simplicity and genuine 4x4 capability without excessive technology. With just 24,000 km over 4 years, it stands as a low-mileage example compared to the typical 80,000 km expected for a vehicle of this age in the region. The 2.0L turbocharged engine is a standout choice for local driving, providing more low-end torque for desert dunes and better fuel efficiency for city commutes than the older V6. In classic Black, this short-wheelbase model retains high resale demand, as 3-door Wranglers are specifically prized for their superior maneuverability in tight wadi crossings. For any buyer in the Emirates, the combination of GCC specifications and remaining mechanical freshness makes this a highly secure investment.

This Car vs Other 2022 Wranglers

At 24,000 km, this vehicle has covered significantly less distance than the 20,000–25,000 km annual average for GCC-based cars. While many 4-year-old Wranglers show signs of heavy desert modification or high highway wear, this example maintains a factory-standard profile that is increasingly rare in the UAE market. The black exterior is a perennial favorite in the region, ensuring better value retention compared to niche or brighter colors at the point of resale.

SPORT vs Lower Trims

The Sport serves as the foundation of the Wrangler range, but in this GCC-spec 2022 version, it includes essential modern comforts like a 7-inch Uconnect touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unlike specialized higher trims, the Sport is often preferred by purists for its lighter curb weight and durable cloth interior, which handles the intense summer heat better than leather. It retains the same heavy-duty Command-Trac 4x4 system found in more expensive models, ensuring no loss in actual off-road potential.

Wrangler vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Ford Bronco or Toyota FJ Cruiser, the Wrangler 2-door offers a vastly superior turning circle and approach angle, making it the leader for technical off-roading. The 2.0L turbo engine provides 400 Nm of torque, outperforming the FJ Cruiser’s naturally aspirated V6 in low-end responsiveness during sand driving. Furthermore, the Wrangler's fully removable doors and roof remain a unique selling point that competitors cannot match for a true open-air GCC winter experience.

Running Costs & Resale

Real-world fuel consumption for the 2.0L turbo averages around 11.0 L/100km, offering a tangible saving over the V6 in stop-start Dubai or Riyadh traffic. Jeep maintains an extensive authorized service network across all major GCC cities, with standard service intervals recommended every 10,000 km or 12 months for highway use. The Wrangler historically retains approximately 68-70% of its value after three years in the GCC, one of the strongest retention rates in the SUV segment.

Performance & Capability

The 272 hp turbocharged engine delivers a punchy 0–100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds, ensuring effortless overtaking on fast-moving highways like the E11. Off-road, the 246 mm ground clearance and Command-Trac part-time 4WD system allow for confident traversal of deep sand and rocky terrain. The short wheelbase of this 3-door configuration provides an exceptional break-over angle, preventing the vehicle from high-centering on sharp dune crests.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed for durability and ease of cleaning after a weekend in the desert, featuring wash-out interior floors with drain plugs. The air conditioning system is specifically tuned for the GCC climate, providing rapid cooling even when external temperatures exceed 45°C. With seating for four, the interior remains functional and connected, offering multiple USB ports and a clear 8-speaker audio system for long drives between emirates.

Safety

Safety is managed by a suite of modern systems including Electronic Roll Mitigation, Hill Start Assist, and Traction Control, which are vital for maintaining stability on shifting sand surfaces. The vehicle features advanced multistage front airbags and supplemental front seat-mounted side airbags. Standard ParkView rear backup camera and Trailer Sway Control provide additional confidence during city parking and occasional towing.

The bottom line

This is a rare opportunity to own a low-mileage, GCC-spec 3-door Wrangler that has been kept in factory-standard condition, making it perfect for the buyer who wants a fresh start for their own custom build or a reliable desert companion.
