• 200 mm maximum ground clearance
• Strong value retention in the GCC used market

Summary

This 2022 Mazda CX-5 represents a compelling opportunity in the local market, featuring exceptionally low mileage that sits well below the typical GCC annual average of 25,000 km. As a 2.5L AWD variant, it offers the ideal balance of power and grip for navigating both rainy city days and sandy weekend escapes. The black exterior is a perennial favorite for resale in the region, ensuring better value retention when it's time to upgrade. Known for its premium interior and car-like handling, the CX-5 bridges the gap between mass-market utility and luxury refinement. This specific listing is a standout choice for those seeking a near-new Japanese crossover with immediate availability and a proven track record for reliability in extreme heat.

This Car vs Other 2022 CX-5s

With just over 15,000 km on the odometer, this vehicle has been driven significantly less than the typical 2022 model in the GCC, which usually averages 40,000–50,000 km by now. This low usage translates to less wear on critical components like the suspension and cooling system, both of which face high stress in the local climate. The black exterior is a highly liquid color in the UAE and Saudi markets, often commanding a quicker sale and a higher price floor than niche shades.

GL vs Lower Trims

The GL trim provides a significant step up in convenience and safety over base models, often including essential GCC features like rear air vents and dual-zone climate control to keep all passengers comfortable during summer. It typically adds advanced driver aids such as Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which are invaluable on fast-moving multi-lane highways. Additionally, the interior benefits from upgraded upholstery and tactile materials that give the cabin a more executive feel compared to the entry-level fabric trims.

CX-5 vs Segment Rivals

Compared to the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, the CX-5 leads with a more driver-centric experience and superior cabin insulation, making long highway drives between Emirates remarkably quiet. While rivals focus on outright utility, Mazda offers a premium feel that rivals entry-level European crossovers, but with the lower long-term maintenance costs typical of Japanese engineering. Its i-Activ All-Wheel Drive system is also noted for its proactive nature, engaging before wheel slip occurs on loose gravel or wet tarmac.

Running Costs & Resale

The 2.5L Skyactiv-G engine is designed for efficiency, typically averaging 9.0L to 10.5L/100km in mixed GCC driving conditions. Mazda's authorized service network is extensive across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, ensuring parts are readily available and affordable. In the local market, the CX-5 enjoys a slower depreciation rate than many European competitors, typically retaining 70-75% of its value after three years if well-maintained. Its mechanical simplicity compared to turbocharged rivals makes it a reliable long-term prospect for the second or third owner.

Performance & Capability

The 188 hp naturally aspirated engine provides smooth, linear acceleration that is perfectly suited for overtaking on the E11 or E311 highways. With 200 mm of ground clearance, it handles high speed bumps and minor off-road tracks with ease, offering more confidence than a standard sedan. The 6-speed automatic transmission is widely praised for its responsiveness, avoiding the 'rubber-band' feel of the CVTs found in many of its segment rivals.

Comfort & Cabin

The cabin is designed around a five-seat layout that prioritizes front-row ergonomics while offering a practical 522-litre boot for family shopping or weekend travel. High-quality seals and acoustic glass help the air conditioning system maintain a cool temperature even when outside heat exceeds 45°C. The central 10.25-inch display serves as a sophisticated hub for navigation and media, positioned high to keep the driver's eyes on the road during busy city commutes.

Safety

Standard safety for this trim includes a comprehensive suite of active technologies such as Smart City Brake Support and Lane Departure Warning. These systems provide an extra layer of protection during heavy stop-start traffic in Dubai or Riyadh. The vehicle is equipped with multiple airbags and a high-strength steel cage, consistently earning top safety ratings globally, which remains a key priority for family-oriented buyers in the GCC.

The bottom line

This low-mileage CX-5 is the perfect match for a professional or small family looking for a reliable, premium-feeling SUV that has already bypassed the steepest part of the depreciation curve.
